In part 1, I looked at comfort, lifestyle, metal choice, personality, and budget considerations when choosing a man's ring. Here, I'll detail five additional issues to consider:

Do you want his ring to match yours?

It's romantic to wear matching wedding rings, but if you and he have different tastes, different size hands, and completely different personalities, matching rings can represent a problem. Also, if you want your wedding ring to match -- and possibly connect to -- your engagement ring, that will make it more complicated to have his ring match yours. On the other hand, you can choose rings with similar features -- perhaps the same pattern or combination of metals.

Does he have strong feelings about design?

Men's wedding rings are usually simpler than women's, but that doesn't mean you don't have a wide variety of designs and styles to choose among. You can have his ring personalized in many ways: with a special symbol, engraving, texture, a Celtic knot, or a geometric shape. Men's rings can be any width you like; can be made of a combination of metals; and can be simple or ornate.

Will it be right for his body size and shape?

If he is a big guy, his hands are large, or he has long fingers, he can handle a wider ring that someone smaller. Choose an average-width or slightly wider band. If his hands are small or his fingers are slender, stick with a narrower band. In terms of width, men's wedding rings are usually wider than their brides' bands. The most popular men's widths are 6 and 7 mm. If you are considering one wider than 7mm, bear in mind that very wide bands may not be as comfortable and usually fit tighter. So, when you have his finger sized for a wider ring, experts generally recommend going up by 1/4 - 1/2 size.

Does he want gemstones or not?

For some men, this is a big decision. Some men feel it is a little "too much," but, like all other choices involving a ring, this is a matter of personal preference. If he likes to live a little outside the box, it is perfectly acceptable for a men's wedding ring to include gemstones. Again, it is a question of style, taste, personality, and the kind of work and play he does. If there is a chance he is going to dislodge or damage a stone, he may not want to do it. If you do opt for gemstones, the most common are diamonds, sapphires, and rubies. Most jewelers advise against pearls and opals, which are more fragile than gemstones. A ring with stones need not be overstated at all. In fact, it can be tasteful and elegant.

Can he wear it while he's working or playing?

Does he work with his hands? If so, are there specific safety or dress code requirements associated with the job that make the wearing of a wedding ring dangerous or against company policy? For example, does he work with machinery or some other kind of equipment that could become caught on a ring? If not, does he have a job that could be rough on jewelry in some way -- rubbing off the finish, denting the metal, or loosening a stone?

If the issue isn't the job, perhaps it is extra-curricular activities. Does he engage in rough and tumble sports, such as rock climbing, football, soccer, ice hockey, or surfing? Any of them can play havoc with a ring, especially if it has gemstones or can easily slip off the finger. Or, what about hobbies? Do they involve gardening, soldering, sanding, cutting, or other kinds of tools that could damage a nice piece of jewelry? These are all considerations when choosing your man's wedding band.

There they are: A total of ten things to consider when choosing a wedding ring your groom will want to wear every day!

You're getting married, and among the myriad decisions to make is what type of wedding ring he will wear. Men and women wear wedding rings for the same reason: to show that they have made a total commitment to each other, their relationship, and their marriage. Perhaps the only difference is that, for women, it isn't a question; for men, it sometimes takes a little more thought. Here are some things you should know before choosing your groom's wedding ring and placing an order:

Will it be comfortable?

Most men rate the comfort factor high on their list of requirements for a wedding band. Since a man's wedding ring is apt to be more streamlined than a woman's, it is often easier to build in comfort with the shape of the edge or the cut of the metal. When you're looking for a ring that will feel good on your man's finger, know that styles with softly rounded or curved edges are likely to be more comfortable. Ring designers call these "comfort fit" bands (or something similar).

Will the ring be appropriate for his lifestyle?

How dies he spend his time? Does he like the theatre or a ball game? Does he enjoy five-star restaurants or ordering in pizza? Does he run in the morning and pump iron or avoid exercise like the plague? There are no right or wrong answers; there are only your answers, which have a direct bearing on the of a man wedding ring. Elegant or rough and tumble, what kind to wear or whether to wear one at all is your choice.

Will it reflect his personality?

When women make choices about rings and other elements of their weddings, they consider their personalities. The same should apply to men. It's important to find a match between this very important fashion accessory and who he is. Is he no frills or flamboyant, conservative or flashy, consistent or mercurial? It's worth the time to consider these questions. If you dress classically and work in a formal environment, a fancy, diamond wedding band just isn't for him. Don't opt for a passing fad in jewelry; he's going to be wearing this ring for a long time.

Will this wedding band fit within my budget?

Obviously, men's wedding bands are going to vary widely in terms of price. Every element changes the cost - metals, materials, width, gemstones, style, design, and labor, to name just a few. When choosing a man's wedding band, you really should shop around and do your homework. You know what you or he can afford. Don't allow yourself to be talked into something you will regret later.

Which metal and style does he prefer?

Many men like plain gold bands, with or without a design element, such as a braid, an inlay of a second metal, or engraving. But that is often because they don't know how many choices there are in metals. Gold comes in yellow, white, and rose. Platinum is white, more expensive than gold, and sometimes easier to bend out of shape. Titanium is high tech and strong. Tungsten carbide -- black or steel grey in color -- is another strong, high-tech metal used in men's wedding bands.

For men who like the latest in technology, that can also be found in how the ring is made, including wave styles or fusion rings that bring together different colors of gold in unusual patterns. Combining metals creates exquisite designs and different shapes, such as jigsaw or puzzle rings, Celtic knots, Claddagh rings, and other uniquely cultural styles.

In part 2 of this article -- 5 More Questions to Consider When Choosing Your Man's Wedding Ring -- I'll look at additional considerations.

Tension Ring

Posted by Wealth Group | 12:18 PM | 0 comments »

A tension ring is a category of finger ring in which the ring itself works as the clamping for an inset gemstone. This is diverse from other modes of ring designs, where a jewel is detained atop the ring stem by spikes, a bezel or other artistic variations for mounting. A tension ring shows up as a single ring with remarkable fastening force, which is fasten on the jewel to clutch it steadily in place. Some rings, while promoted as a tension ring and even has the appearance of tension rings, in actual fact will have a bridge holding the ring collectively from beneath the jewel. These are not genuine examples of a tension type of setting in the ring.

It should also be renowned that the terminology "tension setting" is actually from the perception of raw physical science. The stone is not held in terms of pulling force commonly termed as tension but in fact in terms of a pressing force generally termed as "compression".

A tension mode of setting in a ring is a very strong construct, this with all due respect for having undergone special alloying, hardening and other action processes to augment its strong point. When the ring is being prepared, the metal normally gold or platinum when working with diamond is cold-worked and heat treatment process of hardening is done before the actual setting of the gem, and then later heat-treated for further hardness once the gem is set in its tension setting.

The primitive Niessing tension setting ring was erected out of 18 karat gold (which handles a composition of pure gold 75% and other alloying metals content of 25%) and it totally weighed 35 grams. The composition of metals that was included in the 18 karat blend was non conventional jewelry metals, utilized to offer the ring much amplified strength than regular.

The tension setting ring usually provides you the glossiest appearance because the hindrance of the alloying metal used to hold the gemstone is very little, and literally nothing is seen. Shopping online for Diamond Wedding Rings? The New Varieties of Diamond Wedding Rings

There was a time – not very long ago – when diamond wedding rings were mainly for women, and all looked pretty much the same. Today, its common for men to wear diamond wedding rings as well, and traditional mens gold wedding rings are just the tip of the iceberg!

Tacori Rings

Tacori engagement rings are unique in terms not only of style, but of materials as well – and do not have gem stones mounted. Tacori rings are crafted without mounted stones so as to allow the buyer to choose the kind of gem s/he would prefer to have placed in the mounting, which is then cut to order.

Tacori style is definitely one-of-a-kind. If you can imagine music that blends the ornate, yet mathematical precision of J.S. Bach with the sophisticated urban modernity of George Gershwin, you have a pretty good idea of what Tacori engagement rings present to the eye. Edwardian and Art-Deco were contemporaneous architectural and artistic styles, yet the former was post-Victorian and ornately baroque, while Art-Deco was known for clean, minimalist lines influenced by the Machine Age. Tacori rings successfully blend these two very different styles into a unique kind of jewelry that one will find nowhere else.

Traditional Wedding Jewelry From Space Age Materials

Tacori jewelers also pioneered the use of modern alternatives to gold and silver in the creation of wedding jewelry. Gold and silver, while having great beauty and luster of their own, are relatively soft metals that require a fair amount of care.

Tacori engagement rings and other wedding jewelry are made from extra durable space age metals. The Tacori line includes mens titanium wedding rings, palladium wedding bands and tungsten carbide wedding rings. Tungsten carbide is used in the manufacture of rock-cutting equipment, while palladium is an extremely hard metal, having a melting point of nearly 3000 degrees Fahrenheit! Titanium is yet another highly durable, yet lightweight metal that is a popular material used in top-of-the-line racing and mountain bicycles.

The bottom line is that Tacori's palladium wedding bands or tungsten carbide wedding rings are virtually indestructible. Like their mens titanium wedding rings, these pieces resist scratching, require no polishing and will last for generations – making them ideal heirlooms!

Tradition

Of course, those who prefer the old ways can still find traditional mens gold wedding rings and diamond wedding rings as well. Such pieces are still carefully crafted by the finest jewelers who nonetheless use the latest tools and techniques in order to produce wedding jewelry of the highest quality. Whether it is simple wedding bands or traditional diamond wedding rings, gold still retains the same allure that it has for 5000 years.

Palladium Jewellery – Need and Importance

Posted by Wealth Group | 12:18 PM | 0 comments »

The demand of jewellery is increasing day by day. People demand for Jewellery made of precious metals like Gold, Platinum and Silver. But the production of these metals are always limited, because these are natural elements, we cannot produce synthetic gold, platinum and silver by scientific methods. So, in that case we have to rely on natural reserves of Gold, Silver and other metals. Titanium is being used for Military purposes leaving very less amount for use in Jewellery manufacturing.

To solve this demand for metals, jewellery manufacturers started using alloys like White Gold and other precious metals like Palladium for exclusive set of people. They started making every kind of jewellery for different purposes made of White Gold, which is basically an alloy of gold with at least one white metal generally, Nickel or palladium. Although jewellery made of Palladium is also popular, and jewellery manufacturers were using this metal since long. These days, palladium consumption is not only limited into technical applications, it had become an industrial precious metal.

Although White Gold is ideal for jewellery making, but there is a mind set of consumers about alloys. They don't want these mixtures if a better alternative is present. They prefer pure white metals like palladium. Palladium is a member of the platinum family and typically palladium jewelry products look similar to platinum. The shine of Palladium Jewellery is natural, and you don't need to re polish them again and again to maintain its shine. Which means its natural glitter will never wear off.

There are two important factors behind popularity of Palladium. First, palladium is about half the density of platinum (12 g/cm3 vs. 21 g/cm3). Second feature is the ductile nature of Palladium, this features makes it easier for jewellery designers to mould palladium in their desired shape. Appearance-wise, platinum and palladium are very similar, but palladium is actually somewhat whiter. And it's no duller – in fact, it's easier to polish, but price is a factor. Everyone comes in wanting platinum, but only a quarter of them can actually afford it.

Although people are now loving Palladium Jewellery products, but there is a problem. In many European countries, such as the U.K., palladium is not recognized as a jewelry metal and cannot be hallmarked. Moreover, U.S. stamping laws place no restrictions on marketing palladium jewelry products in the U.S.

Fashion Trends Changes with Personality

Tents look good at a circus or camping areas. Hiding behind reams of fabric to hide that bulge or your insecurity does not do you any good. Get confident by choosing the right personality. Indian traditional outfits are stunning. Combine a little western cut and modernity and make that statement. Invest in a good designer and create a personality.

Everyone salutes a mother-to-be or a new mother. Get into clothes that are convenient and allow the functioning of motherly routines. Get an overcoat in a monotone colour and go on for stretchable wears. Long stoles are casual and useful. Remember to get into bright colours to suit your happy mood and prefer easy press buttons or zippers in front. Simple details like hidden side pockets will also assist you. Now no excuses to not attend a party!

The structure that Genetics conferred on us have to be respected. Whether our bodies are pear shaped, apple or resemble a drumstick are just figurative speech. We can surely work on improvements but it is not required to compromise on fashion trends.

Leggings are in and suit all shapes. The tops can be chosen are per shape. Loose overcoats worn on it can hide the ultra-svelte shapes. Similarly well cut A line tops in synthetics is a better alternative for the not so thin. Perfect bodies always remain the envy of all as they fit into any style.

In case you are size XXL and have not so shapely calves, then you could choose some strappy footwear or high heels to take the flab away. Waif like figures need not grieve as fashion allows lot of room in jackets, shirt worn inside a tank top or corset and dressy stoles.

It is again a play of colours. Skin tones and hair colour can do a lot to ones personality. For round bodies, Mix and match effect to break the dullness in a same-tone salwar kameez changes your look. Break the monotone with a smart appliqué work or a simple handbag. Too much of embroidery does no good for round shapes.

Leave the pallu loose in a sari and don't use it as a blanket. Go for dark colours and well cut blouse. Flabby arms are fine and so is the tummy. Use your imagination. The idea is not to hide blemishes but to accentuate your plus points. Team up salwars with leggings and dark churidars as they make your legs look slimmer.

Thin is in. But if you lack the confidence then trick the outfit with make up and volumnising your hair. Go for geometric shapes and bold prints. Do not overdo it. Add inners for smart jackets. Use shoulder pads for broader look. Age and profession do matter in fashion. If wrinkles and sagging skin show up, take it in your stride. If the sarees balloon up go for straight pants and salwars. Long skirts look nice. If you are a salsa teacher, harem pants are essential but incase you teach economics the varieties in sari are mind blowing.

Impressive Art of Tailoring

Posted by Wealth Group | 12:18 PM | 0 comments »

Magic tricks with tailoring tips. Its all about the right cut and fit. Borrowings from western fashion trends and blending them in saree blouses, kurtas or salwar kameez is an art. The darzi of yesteryears is now a style guru. Learn simple mantras for complete style.

A 32 kali kurta on a oversized figure is a complete faux pas. Gentle gather will give the same effect and a confident you. Play around with lines i.e. necklines and hem lines. A sweetheart or sabrina neckline will do well on a long neck. Alternate into a Chinese collar and close fit to stay slim and grace at your neck.

Styles are many and choose the right one. Whenever you buy a material, sit around with the fabric, understand the fall of the garment. A chiffon or georgette is all about feminity. Satin and silks take shape of your body. Another art is in cutting the garment. Make time with your designer. An empire line for a heavy figure seems like a perfect fashion blooper. An ace tailor masters the trends and applies it to Indian fashion. Indianizing western wear is necessary to an extent. Fits needs to be trendy yet classy.

Whether a tuxedo- 3 piece suit or a button down shirt the cut does the trick is styling. A normal tweed plaid jacket will look bland without right detailing of collars and pockets. Buttons and inner fasteners are essentials. Men's pants come in a range of fabric and a proper grip at the waist will grace the apparel.

Once the garment is cut, keep enough room for extensions. This is a master's job or a misfit can be a traumatic experience. It's a privilege to have a good tailor who understands your fitting style and moreover you. Assist him with ideas but go with his knowledge. Certain clothes require lining and retaining the lining to withstand wash and colour is the tailors duty. Pre-wash is necessary with linings and also some fabrics which are sensitive to shrinking.

Alteration is a major branch of Tailoring. All tailors cannot master this art. An old skirt lying in your cupboard corner, need not be thrown away. Alter the seams, steam press it, cover over with some georgette layers in handkerchief style and a new casual evening wear is ready. The same goes for your trousseau wear, which you long to wear but won't fit as now you are pleasantly healthier. Bring out the blouses, use the zari work, re-do the buttoning and add in a few strings to tie up. Cut a boat neck on the old Chinese collar of a former satin Punjabi suit. Taper the cowls of the dhoti salwar and a new dress is ready. Denims are friends forever and just alter the length. Cut-offs are good for monsoon, shorts for home wear and embellish if you want. Fashion tricks lie with the scissor hands – your Tailor.

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:18 AM | 0 comments »

If you and your intended have settled on a diamond as the stone for your engagement ring, you owe it to yourselves to take a bit of time to learn about diamonds before settling on a choice. "Diamonds are forever," after all, and anything which will be with you forever should be the finest stone your budget can manage

The more you know about what separates the different grades of diamonds, the better able you will be to find a ring which not only looks beautiful but. has the qualities which will let its value increase over time. Those qualities are commonly referred to as the "Four C's" (Clarity, Cut, Color, Carat).

Clarity

You may have heard the term "flawless" applied to diamonds, but the reality is that a truly flawless diamond is exceptionally uncommon. Nearly all diamonds have exterior or interior inclusions, and are placed in one of eight distinct grades with Internally Flawless, or IF being the most desirable, and I1 being the grade given to the least desirable diamonds, those with visible chips or inclusions.

Cut

If you are wondering why some diamonds seem to be more "brilliant " than others, the answer is that brilliance depends on the amount of white light which is emitted through the flat area on the diamond's surface. And that, in turn, depends on the skill of the jeweler who cut the diamond.

Any diamond has ideal proportions which, in the hands of a good cutter, will actually enhance the stone's clarity and color. Poorly cut diamonds will lose brilliance from white light being leaked through some of their facets. A properly cut diamond will also be alive with fire, the result of its acting as a prism to break white light into all the colors of the rainbow.

Some jewelers can even spread-cut a small stone to make it appear larger, but the fire the stone emits will be less.

Color

The color of a diamond will be assigned a grade according to standards set by the Gemological Institute of America, with colorless stones being graded "D." At the other end of the alphabet, "Z" stones will be the ones with obvious tones of gray, brown, or yellow. The legendary Hope and Tiffany Diamonds are both colored stones; the Hope is Yellow, and the Tiffany blue.

As in the case of both those magnificent stones, if a diamond is of a deep natural color, its value can actually be more than a comparable colorless stone. Irradiation can be used to intensify the hue of stones which are slightly colored so they become more noticeably yellow, blue, brown, or green but this does not add to their value.

Carats

Picture a carat as a pound, which contains sixteen ounces. Each carat contains a hundred "points," so if you are looking at jewelry and are told that a diamond is ten points, you know that means one-tenth of a carat. The points of a diamond have nothing to do with its shape or facts; they are merely a measure of its weight.

Because a carat is a measure of weight and has nothing to do with a diamond's physical dimensions, a group of diamonds of different sizes can all be one, or two, or any other number of carats. Cut is what determines a diamond's dimensions, and some diamonds which have small diameters may actually be bigger when measured for depth than those which are larger in diameter.

So with diamonds of equal color, cut, and clarity, the carats are what determine differences in value. Two one-carat diamonds will be worth less than a dingle two carat diamond of the same cut, clarity, and color.

By learning what you can about the Four C's before going on your hunt for a diamond engagement ring, you'll be certain to make a "Grade A" choice!

Trend and Popularity of Platinum Rings

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:18 AM | 0 comments »

Platinum Jewelry has become the most favored for people globally. There is great demand of jewelry products made of Platinum due to its stunning look and feel. Diamond Engagement Rings and weddings rings are no doubt a rage, but Platinum is present there too. Earlier Gold, and White Gold were base metals used in making of Diamond Rings. But we can see Platinum now in almost every designer Engagement and Wedding Rings. The reason behind this change in demand of Platinum rings is its exclusive finish and glow. Platinum is a more tensile and malleable element, making it ideal for rings and bands. Jewelers can make more ideal, flexible and attractive shapes for diamond engagement rings, and wedding bands now by using platinum as base metal.

Another reason for popularity of Platinum Rings and different Platinum jewelry products are its less reacting ability. You can wear Platinum rings and jewelries without any problem or fear of getting linings on your fingers and finger joints. You'll never feel irritation due to wearing jewelry made of least reacting substances like Platinum. It is one of the most previous elements on earth. Platinum Jewelry comes on a heavy price, so it has become an exclusive way of flaunting wealth and fashion consciousness in society.

Ask people for their choice of jewelry, you'll come to know that most of the people like to have Platinum jewelry in their collection. Specially, we can see the maximum use of platinum jewelry in making Engagement Rings and Wedding Bands with diamond and other precious stones as gems. Platinum provides more prospective for designing jewelry with creativity and uniqueness due to its chemical stability at odd situations, giving jewelry manufacturers and designers more ease while thinking for new jewelry designs.

Maximum use of Platinum is into making of Diamond Rings for all purposes, but Platinum bracelets, ear-rings, and exclusive designer watches are also gaining popularity. Earlier people were dependent on White Gold (Gold with Rhodium, Iridium and Nickel) for that exclusive look, but introduction of Platinum changed the scenario, and people with no constraint of money being spent on jewelry are choosing them. Although, Platinum Jewelry is still out of reach of people with medium earning range.

Demand for both gem and industrial diamonds is very strong. To fulfill this demand these days Synthetic diamonds are being produced in sufficient amount, this synthetically produced diamonds are being supplied for industrial uses, but these synthetic gems remain inferior and expensive, not suitable for the large jewellery market. The large gem market is still dependent on diamonds supplied by mining.

Demands for Diamond – A Simple Study

Demand for diamond is strong globally. The US$0.7 billion per year market for industrial diamond is now almost exclusively supplied by annual synthetic production of about 1000 million carats. Gem-quality synthetics remain inferior and expensive to produce, so the diamond jewellery trade is supplied by mining of natural diamond, derived from kimberlites, lamproites, and gravels.

Diamond Sales and Uses – A Global Scenario

Recently the world diamond selling market has achieved record sales, especially in the US where half of all gem diamonds are sold. Annual production of natural diamond, at a cost of about US$2 billion, has reached a total of over 110 million carats per year, and this production sells for about US$7 billion, resulting benefit of US$2 billion. Botswana, South Africa and Russia dominate the high quality production mostly handled in Antwerp and Tel Aviv, while Australia and Congo are leading suppliers of the low quality stones that are cut in India. The two-thirds or so of this annual supply of rough that is gem quality is reduced to between 20 and 30 million carats of polished goods and sold in jewellery for about US$55 billion. The one-third of all natural diamonds used for industrial purposes fetches only about 1% of mining revenue.

Diamond Needs in Future

The demand for diamonds is going to increase more in future. Both industrial uses as well as use of diamonds as gems in jewellery products will increase. So there is strong need of discovery of new sources of diamond along with new scientific approach of mining diamonds.

Introduction to Conflict Diamonds

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:18 AM | 0 comments »

Although people love diamond, especially woman are a big fan of diamond jewellery. But there is a fact that Diamonds were used as a means of funding for several civil wars all over the world. South Africa and Russia are badly affected by this diamond funded war. People were unaware with this bitter truth that the diamond which they are wearing might be coming after taking so many lives. Diamond Engagement Ring and Wedding Rings may be a way of bringing two people closer for life. But once the bride and groom will know that the amount which they are paying for the diamond which is glittering on their engagement ring or wedding ring, is going to help terrorists or revolutionists then they must feel bad about it and will have guilt feeling for whole life. These kind of diamonds are famous as conflict diamonds. According to United Nations, "Conflict diamonds are diamonds that originate from areas controlled by forces or factions opposed to legitimate and internationally recognized governments, and are used to fund military action in opposition to those governments, or in contravention of the decisions of the Security Council."

Avoid Uses of Conflict Diamond

On 1 December 2000, the United Nations General Assembly adopted, unanimously, a resolution on the role of diamonds in fuelling conflict, breaking the link between the illicit transaction of rough diamonds and armed conflict, as a contribution to prevention and settlement of conflicts. These days all diamond producers and Diamond Jewellery manufacturers are issuing a certificate of diamond's authenticity about the origin of diamond and the chain through which diamond is coming to doorstep of consumers in form of jewellery products.

Several major mines have been depleted, and the market is receptive to new sources of high quality gems. Several new diamond miners are coming into light, like in 1998, Canada joined the elite ranks of high quality producers, compensating for depleted mines in South Africa and Russia. There is a strong need for research and discovery in the process of diamond mining to stop production of conflict diamond and give people a level of satisfaction in return of his money rather than a guilt feeling.

What are tacori rings? Tungsten Wedding Rings, Celtic Jewelry – Old Meets New

Tungsten rings and jewelry made palladium are cutting edge. Unlike traditional gold and silver rings which are relatively soft, tungsten rings are virtually indestructible, and will shine for decades without the need for polishing!

On the other hand, when it comes to wedding rings Celtic jewelry represent an ancient tradition. As a distinct group of people, the Celts were perhaps the first Indo-Aryan speakers to enter Europe, as long ago as 3,000 B.C.E. Although they never coalesced to form an empire in the political sense, their cultural influence spanned the entire continent and beyond, from Galatia in present-day Turkey to islands off the west coast of Ireland. Today, their descendants in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall and Brittany continue to influence the design of modern jewelry with Celtic knotwork rings in the form of tungsten rings and palladium wedding bands.

About Celtic Knot Engagement Rings

Ancient Celtic art shares an interesting aspect with art in the Islamic world. Both religious traditions, while having almost nothing in common in terms of theology, have historically shared proscriptions against the depiction of living things, i.e. plants, animals and people. Muslim artists, strongly influenced by mathematics, thus based their works on geometric patterns, while art among the Celtic tribes took the form of interwoven cords known as plaits. These ancient designs are now regularly worked into modern Celtic knotwork rings.

Despite the fact that modern Wiccans sometimes attribute magical properties to Celtic knotwork, there is no historical or archeological evidence to show that Celtic art had any religious or ceremonial significance – and that's all right. It is enough for wedding rings, Celtic jewelry and other pieces to simply look attractive; elaborate Celtic knot engagement rings can certainly be enjoyed on a strictly aesthetic basis.

The Use of Modern Metals

Tacori rings bring this ancient Celtic tradition into the 21st Century with tungsten carbide wedding rings and palladium wedding bands. These space-age metals are extremely durable and long lasting. Because of their sheer hardness, tungsten rings (made of the same material as the filaments in old-style incandescent light bulbs) do not scratch easily, and since they do not become tarnished, they need very little in the way of maintenance (such as polishing).

Metals such as tungsten and palladium have become more valuable then gold and platinum; not only are palladium wedding bands and tungsten rings uncommonly beautiful, they also make an excellent investment.

Finding tacori wedding rings. Tacori Engagement Rings – Unity in Opposites

If you treasure and appreciate traditions of the past and find the ornate filigrees of Edwardian style attractive – yet understand the superiority of modern technology and are drawn to the Art Deco expression of that technology – Tacori engagement rings are for you. These fine palladium wedding bands and tungsten rings are crafted from the latest Space Age materials, yet reflect the highest aesthetic standards, providing a pleasing appearance and feel and excellent durability. Tacori engagement rings are indeed forever.

Celtic knot engagement rings also represent tradition. Skillfully integrated into the contemporary design of Tacori engagement rings, such Celtic knotwork rings represent the unity of past and present and thus are uniquely suited for such an occasion.

Practically Indestructible

Tungsten rings and palladium wedding bands are virtually indestructible. Both metals have been used extensively under the most grueling industrial conditions since the Machine Age began over 200 years ago, and have been proven to be among the most durable materials on the planet.

Tungsten-carbide wedding rings are not only uncommonly beautiful, but take the concept of the tungsten ring even further. Carbide compounds are the stuff of heavy-duty cutting machinery and have military applications as well. Tacori wedding rings made from tungsten carbide are rings designed to last many lifetimes. Although Tacori engagement rings and their companion line of Tacori wedding rings have only been made since the late 1970s, it's very likely that these coveted pieces will continue to grow in value and become treasured heirlooms that will be passed down for generations to come.

About Haig Tacorian

Haig Tacorian came to the U.S. in 1970, escaping from Romania with his family during the time that the country had been under the infamous Nicolae Ceausescu. His first job was that of traveling jewelry salesman, and within a short time, he was making four times what his father earned. Abandoning his plans for college, Tacorian decided to star his own custom jewelry firm in 1975.

Today, the entire Tacorian family is involved in the design and production of high-quality jewelry. Tacori's palladium wedding bands are greatly sought-after. The company offers both wedding and engagement sets that are offered as semi-mounts; the center stone has not been mounted so as to allow the purchaser to select the gemstone of his/her choice.

Tacori engagement rings are among the finest sets available, and can be purchased only through specially selected retail outlets.

Why you should buy Tungsten carbide wedding rings. Jewelry Designs for Men

With a melting point of nearly 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit, palladium is one of the most durable materials on the planet – so what better or longer lasting than palladium wedding bands? This beautiful cream-silver colored metal shines brightly for decades, requiring no polishing, and is impossible to scratch. It is an ideal material for custom men's jewelry, including palladium wedding bands.

Past Meets Future

Men's jewelry has been used for centuries, primarily for purposes of showing off one's status, or as the sign of one who has performed mighty deeds. One the earliest forms of mens jewelry were necklaces made out of the claws, teeth and bones of game animals, signifying that the wearer was a great hunter (surely a good thing to be when the tribe's survival depended on it!)

Today, class and company rings serve similar functions, as do quality timepieces such as Movado gold watches. However, the materials used in the 21st century are a far cry from those of the Stone Age; palladium wedding bands and tungsten-carbide wedding rings represent the most creative uses of such Space-Age materials, and are as enduring as the bond they represent.

Mens Watches Come of Age

The pocket watch has been a traditional man's accessory for many decades (and even an indispensable tool if you worked for the railroad). However, wrist watches did not come along until the 20th Century. Dive watches are required for those whose work takes them under the surface of the sea, but the first mens watches designed to be worn on the wrist were intended for aviators. Early aircraft were notoriously unstable, requiring the pilot to have his hand on the controls every second – and since these early planes had no fuel gauge, the only way to tell if you were running low on gas was to keep an eye on the clock.

Wedding Rings Enter the Space Age

Tungsten carbide wedding rings are made of the same material that was used to make the filaments of old fashioned incandescent light bulbs – some of which lasted for decades. Likewise, palladium wedding bands set the standard for durability combined with beauty and style. Such jewelry actually has greater value than gold and is far more likely to hold its value in years to come.

Sources for palladium wedding bands can easily be found on the World Web Web; most sites allow you to see the different styles available as well.

Unique mens jewelry

Posted by Wealth Group | 8:18 PM | 0 comments »

Unique mens jewelry. There is practically nothing more durable than palladium wedding bands. With a melting point of nearly 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit, palladium is part of the group of metals that includes platinum. Custom men's jewelry made from this nearly indestructible metal will last for decades without scratching or need of polishing. Learn more about palladium wedding bands and other mens jewelry below.

It Was For Men First

We usually associate jewelry with women – particularly necklaces and bracelets. It is very likely however that men's jewelry existed before women began adorning themselves. Custom men's jewelry existed during the Stone Age over a thousand centuries ago; Ice Age hunters often wore necklaces made from the teeth, claws and/or bones of animals which they had killed for the tribe to eat. Among North American Indians, women's and men's jewelry served a dual purpose: dentalia, or "wampum" shells worn around the neck also served as currency.

Today, palladium wedding bands are the latest thing in men's jewelry, but hardly the only thing. Men's watches (including dive watches for the undersea adventurer), Movado gold watches and tungsten carbide wedding rings are just some of what is available.

About Mens Watches

Pocket watches are certainly the epitome of masculinity, but are rather dated – and not all that convenient, since a fob chain is usually required. Movado gold watches, made by a Swiss company that is practically the final word in precision timepieces, come in well over eighty different styles. Mens watches are always welcome gifts, and in some cases are even traditional. In Spain for example, after a woman received an engagement ring from a man, she often presents him with a wristwatch in return.

Industrial-strength Wedding Rings

Tungsten carbide wedding rings are indeed "forever." Tungsten is the material from which the filaments of old-style incandescent light bulbs were made, and is nearly indestructible. Likewise, palladium wedding bands are also made to last the ages.

Although these metals are products of the Industrial Age, they are indeed traditional in design – chances are that nobody will know they're not made from white gold (unless they try to scratch or bend them).

Palladium wedding bands and tungsten-carbide wedding rings, like Movado gold watches, are gifts that will continue to increase in value while providing decades of service. Before taking the plunge and simply buying a traditional gold or silver wedding set, take a look at some of the many palladium wedding bands on the market today.

Tips On Choosing A Wedding Ring

Posted by Wealth Group | 8:18 PM | 0 comments »

Young couples who plan to marry should spend some quality time when it comes to choosing their wedding rings; remember these are the rings you will wear for the rest of your life, you will want them to be perfect for you and your partner. The rings are an indication of shared love and should show this, so it's important put some time and research into choosing a wedding ring.

You can search for a wedding ring by various methods, a visit to a jeweler will help you to see the metals and styles generally available but if possible avoid one of the jewelry chains situated in shopping malls everywhere as it is unlikely anything unique will be found there. Another choice is online shopping and you will find a much wider selection and probably save some money too.

Be sure you do not buy a wedding ring that is more elaborate than the engagement ring; it may seem like more work but it should be possible to find rings that compliment one another. To achieve this, the easiest method is to place both the wedding band and engagement ring side by side if it is not possible to try the ring on because the size needs adjusting. You can be pretty sure too that if you choose a plain simple band that it will complement most any type of engagement ring.

If however you would prefer a more unique wedding ring a specialty jeweler is recommended. You may perhaps even want to design your own rings. This would be the most costly option and something to consider when deciding on the budget for your wedding rings. Another option for finding a unique ring is to consider buying a vintage or antique ring. Antique rings are wonderful reminders of the beauty of bygone days and if you and your fiancé already have a passion for collecting and using antiques then this may be the perfect solution for you.

Although some metals are fashionable for a while, including: (1) Silver, (2) White Gold, (3) Yellow Gold and (4) Titanium; durability is an issue and that is why platinum is becoming so popular. Platinum is the most expensive of the metals of course, and the budget is almost always a contributing factor in the purchase of your wedding ring but of the two partners, it is the man who will appreciate a platinum ring's durability more. The number of men doing manual tasks is still greater than women; and they are the ones most likely to cause damage to their ring.

A simple but necessary part of the process is to check finger size so the wedding ring fits correctly; after all the expense involved, you need the rings to fit correctly! If the ring doesn't seem to fit right take it to a professional jeweler for sizing, this will prevent it from being too tight or too loose and slipping off.

If you want to make sure your rings are ready in plenty of time for the wedding, give your jeweler enough time to complete any adjustments; he may have a number of customers rings to be sized and you do not want a problem on the wedding day.

There is a huge variety of wedding bands available these days; choosing the right one can take quite some time and a number of visits to the jeweler or online shopping sites. However, the most important aspect to remember when choosing a wedding ring is that its purpose is to show the love that two people have for one another; there isn't a stronger symbol of the love two people share.

Your wedding rings should be special, and an antique wedding ring would be a wonderfully romantic choice. Check out the large selection of antique wedding rings at

How to choose wedding rings

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:18 AM | 0 comments »

Any couple planning a wedding should remember how important their choice of wedding rings is; this is a special part of the marriage process and should have great meaning. Do not rush this as they are more than a symbol of love; everyone has a ring that is made purely for them and as soon as you see it you will realize this. For something this important a couple should find a specialist jeweler for their wedding rings; you may not find the right type of jeweler from the many in your local mall.

The type of ring available in these stores is usually quite limited; they may also have a restricted price range, another reason to seek out a jeweler who only sells this type of ring. Using a specialist should also make it easier when you are trying to find a ring that works well with the engagement ring so the two do not conflict.

Be sure the wedding ring is not so elaborate that it detracts from the beauty of the engagement ring; try, if possible to buy rings that were designed to complement each other. Alternatively you will just need to spend time trying new wedding bands until you find one that matches the engagement ring.

Fashions in rings come and go but the traditional metals including: White Gold, Titanium, Silver and Yellow Gold; however, it is platinum that is being chosen more frequently when the budget allows. Of the two partners, it is the man who will appreciate a platinum ring's durability more. Traditionally, men are more likely to cause damage to a ring; they are the ones who will have the most marks and damage if examined.

Having finger size checked is essential if the wedding rings are to fit; it would be embarrassing if one or both rings did not fit properly. It is just as important to ensure the rings are not so loose that there is a chance they will be lost.

It is important that you allow the jeweler enough time to complete your ring order by your wedding day; be sure that you go looking for your rings a few months before your wedding so they will be ready for your big day. With so many wedding band designs available today, picking the right one is not a fast process; this will certainly take longer than you expect and another reason not to delay.

However, the most important aspect to remember when choosing a wedding ring is that its purpose is to show the love that two people have for one another; it should be something you are proud to wear and display.

Craze of Diamond Jewellery

Posted by Wealth Group | 8:18 PM | 0 comments »

Women's are obsessive about Jewellery because it represents femininity and even social status. Women feel beautiful and confident once they are loaded with jewellery.

The tradition of wearing jewellery is as old as human civilization. Jewellery has been women's favorite since long. Wedding, social gatherings and celebration are always an ideal place to flaunt jewellery. Modern people are too much fashion conscious. These Days designers and jewelers and manufactures are specially designing jewellery for wedding. Diamond has always fascinated women. But to really think of it we do not know whether it is obsession, craze or passion but jewellery has always lured women.

The diamond craze is setting the city ablaze as never before. It is now the ultimate statement of fashion. Some time back the only metal that was talked about was gold. But today the latest trend that has caught every age group is the fascination for diamonds. To begin with every woman in her dressing wants to stand apart in a crowd, and though her dress and accessories like shoes and handbag helps one to score, it is undoubtedly the jewellery that is the deciding factor. "It was earlier perceived that diamonds are meant only for the super rich. Now things have changed for good".

Today people are opting for the white stone and metals (like palladium, white gold, platinum) rather than the yellow metal they love. In fact, U.K. and Europe is turning into a good market for Conflict Free Diamonds. The fast moving jewellery items are the rings, earrings and pendants, which sell like hot cakes. Diamonds are often embedded on gold. The usual practice is to use 14 carat gold for the purpose. For the last fifty years, synthetic diamonds are being produced mostly for industrial purposes. It is often regarded that it is still more expensive to manufacture diamonds than to mine them.

It is believed that whoever in possession of the mighty Kohinoor will one day rule the world. Queen Victoria added the diamond to her crown, literally. Queen Elizabeth II who inherited the fortunes owns it now and is kept safe in the Tower of London. Diamonds don't always prove to be a joy forever. The beauty and sparkle of a diamond is the single largest factor in enticing buyers. Besides, the fact that diamonds of particular sizes appreciate in value over time, also influences buyers.

Jewellery today has come of age - and out of the locker. Diamond jewellery satisfies the modern woman's need for something delicate and wearable. It is also versatile, it complements all types of costumes and suits both formal and informal occasions. A diamond is the ultimate style icon and makes a statement of elegance and style that no other piece of jewellery can make.

Wear one and you'll be a point of attraction in a gathering, until another with a better design and size makes an entry, of course.

When casually dating, you can try on different personalities, character traits, likes and dislikes with little to no harm inflicted on either party. But when you are looking for marriage, certain elements need to heed more attention than others. Goals, values and morals are as important as ambition, responsibility and accountability. Picking the right man to build and share a life with is the foundation for a wonderful relationship. Selecting a mens wedding band follows the same line of thinking implemented when selecting a suitable partner for marriage.

When you are in the market for a mens wedding band, you must consider his style, his build, and more importantly, the demeanor in which he portrays himself. First you'll want to assess his build. Does he have a large frame, medium or small build? If he's tall and fairly broad, a substantial ring with a wider, heavier band such as a tungsten carbide ring in the 7-10mm range would be ideal. A more slender man or one who is of short to medium height, would be better suited in a slimmer band, like a 3-6mm width.

Once you know the right width, you can then narrow your choices down further by identifying the type of mens wedding band that best suits his personality. If he is a sophisticated man that values quality and has the best TV, car, sunglasses and clothes, then selecting a wedding ring that caters to his desire for the best is top of list. You will most certainly want to look at mens wedding bands that are substantial in weight, keep a lustrous shine and possibly even embellished with diamonds or other gemstones. Tungsten carbide rings are quite popular among this group, as they feel and appear luxurious and with the nearly indestructible quality they are known for. Mens wedding bands made from tungsten carbide will certainly exude confidence, class and most importantly, quality. If on the other hand your guy is lighthearted, values a sense of humor, carefree and spontaneous a lightweight titanium ring may be more suitable for him. Titanium rings are ultra light yet incredibly strong. They can be simple in design or carry a creative and stylish flare.

Style can also be determined by his noting his preference of metal. There are many popular metals that range in price, durability and appearance. Platinum rings are quite expensive and often times selected purely for the assumed prestige. On the other hand, a man who values quality over prestige may be more pleased with a tungsten ring. Far less expensive than platinum rings, tungsten weddings bands portray that same luster and shine as platinum, but have far more resilience to damage and destruction. They are a bit heavier as well, which is ideal for a man who likes a solid weight. Titanium rings are nearly as durable as tungsten rings but are significantly lighter in weight, hypoallergenic and offer a lighter grey color, or they can be shined to an almost reflective tone.

Another popular choice involves enhancing metals with other metals or gemstones. Titanium can be combined with white gold, yellow gold or platinum to create a more elaborate look. Diamonds, sapphires and other gemstones can add a unique touch for the refined gentleman.

Knowing your man, his likes, favorite pastimes and even the kind of friends he has can make shopping for a mens wedding band more productive and enjoyable. Taking into consideration what he does, both for business and pleasure can pinpoint a ring style that blends well with his lifestyle.

As a personal shopper, Sam Brown monitors fine jewelry trends, with an emphasis on titanium wedding bands and mens wedding rings.

Certified Diamonds for your loved ones

When you purchase something as significant and eternal as a diamond, for any occasion, it makes common sense that you would like to know the times past of that valuable memento. In the late 1990's, the humankind became aware of the subsistence of "conflict diamonds," jewels that have been used to fund rebellious or invading army's war efforts.

At present, over 99% of the world's diamond supply has been verified to be completely inconsistency free, and honest retailers and suppliers of diamonds the world over have clinched a policy never to support the countries involved in the diamond trade that still engage in these practices. Still, retailers such as James Allen see the value in educating their customers and staff on the issue of conflict diamonds, to better understand the significance and the process of diamonds that are acquired through fair trade.

In 2000, a joint proposal supported by the United Nations General Assembly created the Kimberly Process, an international certification procedure that aims to put an end to unlawfully traded diamonds. At present, 69 countries are legally vaulted by the rules of this stringent and comprehensive process.

Any traffic of diamonds between these 69 countries must stick on to these guidelines:

•Each participating country must have laws in place that consent the Kimberly Process

•Any consignment of diamonds must be inspected to ensure that each consignment hold fast to the guidelines

•They must then be shipped in tinker-proof containers

•They must be accompanied by an inimitably numbered, Government validated Kimberly Process official document

•Consignments must only be made to participating countries in the Kimberly Process

Each diamond, when sold by a trader must be accompanied by the following warranty statement:

"The diamonds herein billed have been purchased from genuine sources not involved in funding divergence and in compliance with United Nations declarations. The undersigned hereby guarantees that these diamonds are divergence free, based on personal knowledge and printed guarantees provided by the purveyor of these diamonds." In a very short time, the Kimberly Process has had an insightful effect. In the 6 years since its commencement, the Kimberly Process has reduced the trade of conflict diamonds, from 4% to less than 1% of the entire diamond diligence.

Retailers like James Allen have always maintained a strict policy about the origin of their diamonds. The diamonds in James Allen stores come from large, trustworthy diamond suppliers who ensure that the diamonds originated from Kimberly Process compliant countries such as Belgium and Canada. As a chief centre for the trade of diamonds, Belgium has always had a system for diamond authentication, even previous to the formation of the Kimberly Process. Today, Belgian diamond wholesalers utilize one of the strictest levels of precautions when it comes to the trade of diamonds, according to the U.N.

Men's wedding bands made of gold, platinum and palladium have been on the rise in recent years with a very steady climb in prices over the last year. Increases have been seen by as much as 30% for some types of rings. Unless you are a jeweler or constantly searching for a ring, you may not notice this increase, as most people typically don't buy wedding rings on an annual basis. The reason for this dramatic increase is due to the rise in cost of precious metals; gold and platinum especially.

The rise in precious metal prices have made the the cost of jewelry, including men's wedding bands, cost prohibitive for many people. The price of gold which has risen from $600 per ounce a year ago to over $750 per ounce as of October 14, 2007. Platinum has also risen from $1100 to over $1400 per ounce in just a year. That's roughly a 30% increase in one year! When these precious metal prices increase it trickles down to the consumer, affecting the price of fine jewelry.

In an article entitled, "Gold Sparkles with Promise," Curtis Hesler, editor of the Forbes Newsletter, The Professional Timing Service said: "In the first quarter of next year, we could see gold push the $800 level..." That's almost a 35% increase. While this may be a great investment, it's going to hit your wallet hard when it comes to laying down the cash for your wedding rings. So, with gold and platinum reaching higher and more expensive price points, what alternatives are available for men's wedding bands, wedding rings and engagement ring?

Contemporary metals such as Titanium and Tungsten are proving to be not only quality alternatives, but more affordable and often times, more stylish. With so many younger grooms being priced out of the gold wedding band, or platinum wedding band, they are overwhelmingly choosing more contemporary metals. Wedding bands made of Titanium, Black Titanium, Tungsten Carbide, Stainless, Carbon Fiber are becoming more popular, which is interesting since these contemporary metals were not even options a few years ago. But now, more than ever, Titanium rings and men's wedding bands made of Tungsten Carbide or Black Titanium are viable choices for a man to consider when shopping for his wedding band.

Titanium rings have been considered an alternative to gold and platinum for many reasons, but now more than ever, cost is main concern. With the prices of gold and platinum as high as they are, wedding rings and men's wedding bands are becoming increasingly cost prohibitive. Titanium rings are not only more durable than gold and platinum, but much more affordable. For example, a 7mm comfort fit platinum ring can cost as much as $1350. A gold wedding band of similar width can be found for approximately $700. In comparison, titanium rings and tungsten rings in the same widths can be found for nearly half the cost of gold and third of platinum.

A leading online retailer of modern metals jewelry Titanium-J has many styles of titanium and tungsten rings starting at $79. Ron Yates, founder of Titanium-J and owner of Yates & Co Jewelers in Modesto, CA says "We've seen a huge increase in men choosing contemporary metals for their wedding rings. Just three or four years ago most guys never heard of titanium rings or tungsten rings. Now they are considering these rings as a viable choice for their wedding rings. They like modern designs, durability and the affordability."

So if you are shopping for wedding rings and the drastic increase in precious metals has moved beyond your level of affordability for platinum or gold wedding bands, there are options available. It is almost a certainty that as gold and platinum prices continue to spiral upwards more and more shoppers will be wearing contemporary metals on their wedding finger. Currently, titanium and tungsten are the popular choices but don't be surprised to see other new exciting options open up in the near future.

As a personal shopper, Sam Brown has been following the trends in jewelry and has found an appreciation for titanium rings and titanium jewelry, especially for stylish yet economical men's wedding bands.

Determine your budget. When you're just starting a life with someone new, finances can be tight. Sterling silver wedding bands offer an affordable way to wear a precious metal that symbolizes your love for one another, and do so in a way that won't break your bank account. When considering the purchase of sterling silver wedding bands, set a budget before going shopping. This will help you to choose the perfect design at the perfect price.

Choose a style. Whether you prefer solid sterling silver wedding bands, a design that features channel set gemstones or anything in between, the choice is yours. The style of your wedding band is a very personal decision, and you can basically use any band ring as a wedding ring.

Look for the hallmark. A hallmark is a mark stamped on articles of gold, silver or platinum in order to certify their purity. All sterling silver wedding bands, along with any piece of sterling silver jewelry, will be hallmarked as .925. Always be sure to look for the stamp, which is most commonly located on the inside of the band.

Consider the width. If you purchase a wide ring or one that has a significant thickness in the band, you may need to go up ½ size to one full size, depending on the width and weight of the ring. If your sterling silver wedding bands are thin, you should stay true to your original ring size.

Size mishaps. If you purchase a ring and it doesn't quite fit, you can always have sterling silver wedding bands re-sized by a professional jeweler. The cost is relatively inexpensive, and should not compromise the look of the ring in any way. The only exception is if there are gemstones around the entire band, such as the case with an eternity ring. These types of rings cannot be sized.

Have it engraved. Did you know that you can have sterling silver wedding bands engraved? Well, you can. Even if the outside of the ring has gemstones set along the band, you can still engrave the inside of the band. Popular choices include a name, wedding date or special message to your spouse. When you exchange sterling silver wedding bands on the day of your wedding, the inscription will be a wonderful surprise to your spouse.

Tackling tarnish. In order to prevent tarnishing, keep your sterling silver wedding bands in their original box. You can also add an anti-tarnish strip or purchase a jewelry box with special lining designed to keep your sterling silver looking great for years to come. Even gold can tarnish, so if you happen to notice a little discoloration in your sterling silver or you simply want to give it a quick polish, don't fret. Instead, purchase a polishing cloth and give it a quick swipe for an instant shine.

In order to have it remain a beautiful and sparkling gem for many years to come the best time to start thinking about properly caring for diamond engagement rings is when you first receive it.

There are many things you need to consider in this process. You must realize that your diamond engagement rings are indeed an investment and as such certainly require a little extra care. The stone in your ring could and should last a lifetime, and while diamonds are among the hardest compound in the universe proper care must still be taken.

There are special ways you should clean your ring. As you probably know rings tend to get dirty simply from day to day wear and must be cleaned. What you may not know is that even the oils from your skin can have an adverse affect on the cleanliness of your ring. One simple method you could utilize to keep your ring clean is giving it a mild soap bath. To accomplish this all you need to do is use a soft brush to wash away loose particles. Keeping in mind this is not something you want to do at or even around a sink. Drains and jewelry are just a bad mix.

Another method you may wish to use to clean your diamond engagement ring is to soak it in a solution of ammonia and cold water. It's good to let is soak for about half an hour. If you don't want to mix your own solution for cleaning you should know there are some fantastic diamond cleaning solutions on the market. You'll want to follow the instructions provided when using these chemicals and be careful not to touch the diamond with your fingers. Doing so defeats your purpose as you would be transferring the oil from your finger tips onto the diamonds. It's a good to get into the habit of always picking your jewelry up by the edges.

You should also remember to remove your ring and other jewelry as well when you're doing heavy work. Though diamonds are pretty sturdy they can still be scratched.

These are just a few tips one may wish to keep in mind when caring for your new diamond engagement rings.

Many of the celebrities walking down the red carpet at this year's Oscar and Emmy Awards can easily afford to buy their own sets of designer jewelry. But they need not do that. Many of the industry's best jewelry designers, including Erica Courtney, Neil Lane and Harry Winston frequently loan their jewels to garner publicity for their firms. These top jewelry designers give the celebrities their choice of what they would like to wear from their large inventory. It is especially important that two celebrities do not wear the same piece, so the designer must use caution.

One famous jewelry designer who loans pieces for these shows is Michael Katz, who lives in Beverly Hills. He is known for the ability to instinctively match people with the perfect jewels. At the 2005 Emmy Awards, host Ellen Degeneres wore magnolia pins by designer Michelle Roy in remembrance of Hurricane Katrina victims and survivors. The magnolia is the state flower of both Mississippi in addition to Louisiana. Also at that event, "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria wore a lovely band of yellow gold bangle bracelets, and Mariska Hargitay wore gold jewelry by Faraone Mennella.

Tyra Banks outdid them all at the 2006 Emmys, where she wore $3.5 million in borrowed Chopard jewelry. There are many other lesser-known lines of designer jewelry that may be seen at award shows. For example, Danhov designer jewelry, first created by designer Jack Hovsepian since 1984, is an ideal melding of storied tradition and cutting-edge technology.

Another leading designer in the field of designer jewelry is the master Leon Popov. His justly famous Butterfly line features lovely butterfly designs appearing regularly as pins, pendants, necklaces and rings. So, each time you watch the Oscars or Emmys, take a close look at the jewelry being shown off by the celebrities. There is a good chance it is a piece on loan from a famous jewelry designer.

When it comes to men's wedding bands, we nonchalantly think any band will do. But often times, wedding bands and other rings can cause irritation or even an allergic reaction. There are many considerations to weigh when selecting a men's wedding band, but the most important and most overlooked is the type of metal. Typical wedding rings are made of gold, sterling silver, titanium, platinum and tungsten. Traditionally, men's wedding bands have been made of gold. White gold, sterling silver, platinum and newer metals like tungsten and titanium have made their way onto the jewelry scene. Precious metals often used in men's wedding bands are comprised of metal alloys which are mixtures of various elements including hydrogen, oxygen, copper, niobium, nickel, iron and gold.

What makes a wedding band cause an allergic reaction?

Men's wedding bands and wedding rings are meant to be worn everyday and need to be designed accordingly. Rings are exposed to water, sweat, scratches on a daily basis. To withstand the daily wear and tear, most rings are made of 14k or 18k gold, sterling silver, platinum or titanium. Pure gold, 24k gold doesn't have any other elements and is very soft. 14k and 18k gold or not pure gold, 14k gold is 58.3% pure and 18k is 75% pure, with the rest comprised of other alloys such as silver, zinc, copper, palladium and nickel. It's these other alloys that cause the allergic reactions, nickel being the biggest culprit, but also the main element given to gold to make it more corrosion resistant and durable.

What options are available in Hypoallergenic Jewelry?

There are many options in hypoallergenic jewelry. Sterling silver, platinum and titanium rings are not only beautiful alternatives to gold, but they are more pure. Titanium rings are the most pure and 100% hypoallergenic.

• Platinum - Platinum is known for being the rarest and the heaviest of the precious metals. It's also the most expensive. It's typically 90-95% pure and weighs twice as much as gold. It also contains other alloys including copper, zinc cobalt and palladium. It doesn't tarnish like gold and doesn't loose its luster over time, but it can be scratched and patina over time. There are many positives for platinum, but it's not for everyone. Price is a barrier to many, and some men don't like the heaviness of platinum, others love it.

• Titanium Rings - Men's titanium wedding bands and wedding rings are becoming more popular. Titanium is 99+% pure and is inert and therefore completely corrosion resistant. It does not react to salt water, sunlight, or any body chemistry and it is 100% hypoallergenic. Titanium rings never tarnish like silver or gold and are more durable than any other element. Titanium is also extremely lightweight, and more affordable than platinum. Platinum, gold and silver must sacrifice style and function to reduce weight and costs.

With more and more people are finding they are allergic to certain precious metals, specifically nickel alloys used in many gold engagement rings and everyday jewelry, it only makes sense to start opening our eyes to alternative metals like titanium and platinum. According to a Mayo Clinic study done last year on contact dermatitis, which causes itching, redness, and blister, the top two causes are nickel and gold. Titanium provides the stylish rich tones of platinum at a much more attractive price for men's wedidng bands. No other metal has experienced such a dramatic rise in popularity as titanium. For more information on titanium rings, visit Sam A. Brown is a long time fan of titanium rings, titanium jewelry as well as mens wedding bands.

How To Pick An Engagement Ring

Posted by Wealth Group | 8:18 PM | 0 comments »

It's becoming more and more common for guys to let his girl choose her own engagement ring, but that's not always practical. More often than not, you'll want it to be a surprise, and not a little one. But choosing a ring isn't quite as simple as it sounds. You'll want to make sure she actually likes what she's going to be wearing every day, it needs to fit and be comfortable, and it needs to look good on her hand. Here's a quick guide on how to go about figuring what you need to do before getting down on one knee.

Take notice. Pay attention to the types of jewelry she wears. Does she like gold, silver, platinum, white gold? Most people have a very strong preference, so this is the most important step. If you're unsure, start paying attention or look through her jewelry box while she's out. Asking friends and family is never a bad idea (as long as you're sure you can trust them not to reveal your secret).

Shape. If it comes to it, you can simply buy a diamond and let her choose the setting later on. The diamond is more important than the ring itself partly because it's the most expensive part, but also because its shape needs to match her hand. An elongated diamond might be good for short fingers, or a round diamond might be better for slender fingers. On rare occasions, some girls don't even like diamonds and would prefer a ruby or emerald.

The setting. If you do purchase a full ring with diamond and setting, it will be something special to her, so you need to make sure she actually might like it (and not just tell you she does). Settings can always be altered, reshaped, resized, or remade, so it's less important than the actual diamond. If you need to figure out what size she wears, take a piece of string and measure her finger while she's asleep. If she's a light sleeper, ask her family. Don't even let her get suspicious.

Considerations. What type of ring will be practical for her? Pointed style diamonds usually have prongs that can catch on clothing. Take her job into consideration. If you want something really special, you can always visit a real jewelry maker and custom design your own ring, too. Of if you want to go even further, you can take a lost wax jewelry class at a local community college and actually make one yourself for the absolute, most special engagement ring you could possibly give her.

Lastly, make sure your proposal is something special. Put a lot of thought and effort into it to make it a truly memorable moment. Be alone with her when you ask. Don't try to make it like what you've seen in the movies where you're in a restaurant and you have a mariachi band play your song as she's served her ring in a glass of wine. Girls fantasize about being proposed to their whole lives, so if you really want her to say yes, give it your best effort.

Services such as ebay and Craig's List have helped the market for used evening gowns really grow in the last few years. If you are going to resell your gown you want to keep it in good condition in order to get the best price. This combined with the huge expense of purchasing a new ball gown has made caring for your precious purchase all the more important. Here are some valuable tips for caring for your dress.

Storing Your Ball Gown

There are two recommended ways of storing your ball gown. One is to fold it carefully in tissue paper and store it in a box with a few cedar balls and/or a few fabric softener sheets. OR you can fold it over a hanger at the waist (back side over the hanger) and place it inside a garment bag.

Remember, this is a long, heavy dress. Hanging it up by the shoulders or straps may cause stretching of the straps or the fabric in the shoulders. You can also hang it by the straps and ribbons and then drape the rest of the dress over another hanger-at about the knees. This will also prevent stretching. Personally, I take no chances. I fold my all dresses.

Coming Out of Storage

You'll need to bring the dress out of storage several days before your event. There are several methods for removing wrinkles and restoring freshness.

One is to hang the dress in the bathroom while a hot shower steams the wrinkles from the dress. I prefer this method to using hand steamers. Hand steamers require a little bit of salt in the water to make them work properly. Salt is very corrosive and can damage the fabric over time. I just don't risk it.

Another way to remove wrinkles is to liberally mist the dress with a mixture of water that contains a splash of fabric softener. Then hang the dress up somewhere out of the way. Allow the water and the weight of the dress to slowly remove the wrinkles.

Some dresses just have to be ironed-silk, satin, etc. Ironing with steam is acceptable if you don't use any salt. But be very careful---some fabrics will change color slightly when ironed with steam--especially those that are of a lighter shade. So test a small portion first. This is typically not a problem for black dresses. For extra protection you can place a piece of unprinted grocery sack between the dress and the iron.

After the Party

The day after the party use a warm washcloth to remove and deodorant stains under the arms. You really want to do this as soon as possible as some deodorants can lighten or discolor fabric over time. Let your dress air out for a day or two before you store it. This is also a good time to mist it gently with the water/fabric softener mixture.

Dry-cleaning

I don't dry-clean my dresses every time that I wear them. Dry-cleaning chemicals are very harsh and can shorten the lifespan of very delicate fabrics. If you take care of your dress as described above it should not need to be dry-cleaned that often. Remember, you are only wearing it for one night once per year. Unless you are standing near smokers, spill something on it, or are dancing to the point of heavy perspiration the dress shouldn't be that dirty.

I try to dry-clean white dresses only a few times during their lifetime as dry-cleaning fluid will yellow as it ages.

Looks aside, Tungsten rings are not only exotic, but they are really the only metal that can be permanently polished. Unlike gold, platinum, silver, and even titanium rings, Tungsten carbide holds the brilliance and shine, looking freshly polished for years. Slightly heavier than other metals, tungsten rings provide a feeling of substance. A true tungsten carbide ring is skillfully polished using diamond polishing tools and wheels, which creates a permanent luster and polish that is not seen with other metals. Many couples find comfort in the symbolism of tungsten rings, likening the solid, beautiful brilliance to that of their commitment to one another. Nothing expresses an everlasting bond like tungsten rings. Holding claim to the most wear resistant rings available, Tungsten rings are 10 times harder than 18k Gold and 5 times harder than steel. Using the Mohs hardness scale (1-10); tungsten measures between 8 and 9 just below Diamonds, which represent the hardest coming in at 10. Nothing represents an everlasting bond like tungsten, especially when paired with a beautiful diamond.

There are many tungsten rings available today from a variety of designers and retailers. When making your selection, you should be aware of the quality. Like any trade, there are those retailers that will try to pass off low quality imitations as quality products. Many retailers claim to have quality tungsten rings, but you must make sure that you are getting true tungsten carbide rings. You make ask yourself, "what's the difference between Tungsten rings and Tungsten carbide rings?" Even though the names are often used interchangeably, you want to make sure that the ring you are selecting is tungsten carbide. Tungsten rings that don't have carbide, tungsten only rings, is really nothing more than a steel ring. It is still hard, but it's the carbide that makes the ring scratch proof. A true tungsten carbide ring, can only be scratched by a diamond or a product containing the mineral corundum. An easy way to tell, is if a ring has carved details, it is not a tungsten carbide ring. Another area of concern is tungsten rings containing cobalt. Cobalt can develop oxidation spots that cannot be removed or polished out and the ring can even cause a negative reaction with your skin.

One of the best ways to ensure you are getting the best ring at the best price is to go with a reputable retailer, like Titanium-J Take a look at the customer testimonials, the amount of information, resources and inventory of quality products that are made available. Nothing is more reassuring to me, than information, service and knowing that customer service extends beyond an easily navigatable website. Still, some people are leery when it comes to online shopping, but there really are a number of benefits to online shopping. Once you find a site that has excellent customer service and top quality products, you really are getting the best of both worlds. By reducing the overhead associated with offline stores, you benefit from the reduced expenses which are often passed along to the consumer in greater savings. These unique wedding rings epitomize today's man and tungsten rings can be enjoyed and cherished forever.

When you buy an engagement ring, you want it to be perfect. You want her to be in awe over your selection and hope that she praises your good taste to her family and friends. But no matter how much time, thought and money you put into the perfect engagement ring, it can all go unnoticed if you have the ring sized incorrectly.

Trying to get the ring size of the lady that you want to ask to marry you can be a tricky undertaking especially if you want to keep everything a surprise. Here are just a few ideas to help you in your quest:

• Enlist the help of one of her close friends or family members. In some cases, all it takes is a phone call to your future mother-in-law to find out the correct ring size of your intended. Sometimes, though, you might have to ask one of her friends to do a little detective work. Maybe they can bring the subject up and ask her in a way that will not arouse her suspicion. Such a question from you, on the other hand, would not be taken so lightly.

• Look for one of her old rings in a jewelry box and have it sized. You might even be able to print up a ring size diagram online to compare one of her rings with. If she doesn't have any old rings lying around, maybe you can quickly size one of the rings she wears when she takes it off to shower or do the dishes.

• If your future fiancé is a deep sleeper, you may be able to size her finger while she's sleeping. All you need is a paper ring size chart or ring sizes made from plastic. You can get the paper chart online and the plastic ones at a jewelry store.

Presenting an engagement ring that is perfectly sized will show your special lady just how much trouble and effort you went through to find the perfect ring. Granted, you can always purchase the ring and have it sized later, but having a ring that fits perfectly adds a very special touch to your proposal.

Jewelry Design Can Be So Rewarding

Posted by Wealth Group | 12:18 PM | 0 comments »

When it comes to jewelry design there a huge number of variations using the almost inexhaustible supply of gems, stones and precious and semi precious metals. Many of the jewelry design experts will work long painstaking hours to create their masterpiece but in my opinion the main factor that makes the difference between an average piece of jewelry and a truly beautiful piece is the quality and look of the gemstone itself.

I am not a jewelry connoisseur by any means but like most of us I do know what I like. While I do love the more mainstream gems like diamonds, rubies and particularly sapphires, I do like to find something a bit more unusual and unique. The beauty of this is the piece is often cheaper than those including diamonds etc. For instance not long ago I was browsing through a favorite jewelry store when I cane across a piece which really captured my attention. It was an antique ring where the center gemstone was Ametrine. The fascinating thing about this ring was they had a complete history for it. The ring had been commissioned 100 years ago so I knew it was an original piece and had found it's way into the store through an estate sale.

The Ametrine gemstone was exquisite with different coloring, yellow at one end and purple at the other and the truly amazing thing was where the two colors met there was a perfect line separating them. Apparently this is the way the stone is mined but it is difficult to believe something so perfect and exact is found as a naturally occurring phenomenon. This gem was truly beautiful, smooth and clear, presented with an emerald cut.

Now while I really loved the stone I was not overly impressed with the actual design so bought the ring but only for the stone with the idea of designing my own ring using just the stone. I do have a good eye for design but do not have the skills required to actually create the ring so I spoke to the jewelry store owner and he agreed to create the piece for me based on my design, obviously for a fee but as I was buying the piece from him he agreed to a discount.

The extra cost was not a problem as the experience of seeing my own jewelry design come to fruition was worth every cent and since wearing it have had many offers to but it from me for far more than the cost of creating it. My first experience of creating my own jewelry design was a great success.

Marriages are made in heaven, and nothing makes a wedding day as special as a bridal set. Bridal jewellery is one of the most important pieces of jewellery a woman will ever adorn. Not only does bridal jewellery make for an ideal wedding gift, but it also adds to the occasion. Today bridal jewellery is available in different precious stones, and bridal jewellery is no longer restricted to just gold and silver. Bridal jewellery is now available in other precious materials like pearls, crystal and much more. In fact an increasing number of brides all over the US have started buying bridal jewellery that is a shift from the normal gold and silver base.

There are some niche sites on the internet like that cater to bridal jewellery that is made from elegant pearls, and Swarovski crystal. As a matter of fact the number of brides that prefer pearl and crystal to other traditional jewellery is ever increasing. Apart from being timeless and elegant pearl and crystal have certain advantages that white gold or platinum do not have. The biggest advantage that pearl and crystal jewellery has is that it blends very well with the wedding dress, the centrepiece of any wedding is the wedding dress, and pearl and crystal effortlessly blend in with any dress let alone wedding dresses.

In the past there was a great demand for jewellery like platinum or white gold. However this has changed over a period of time, and today it is common for brides to prefer pearl and crystal to other forms of jewellery. In fact pearl and crystal are not just popular as bridal jewellery, bridal accessories like tiaras, and bracelets too are available in pearl and crystal.

Apart from crystal and pearl, another popular medium for jewellery is Coral and other gemstones. Not only do gemstones come in a variety of colours but each bride usually has her favourite gemstone. In fact in many Asian cultures, depending on the year of birth and the star sign, each individual is assigned a birthstone. And many brides in Asia and also in America prefer wearing their birthstones at their weddings.

Compared to traditional medium of bridal jewellery; pearl, crystal and gemstones offer far more variety, and are easily customized according to each individual. The reason for the resounding popularity of pearl and crystal has also extended to bridal jewellery that is gemstone based, and more and more brides have started wearing bridal jewellery that is crafted from coral, turquoise and other gemstones.

Today with so many exotic gemstones available it is not surprising to see a change in the medium used for making bridal jewellery. If you are looking for something special and unique for your wedding, then make sure you look into the newer concepts in bridal jewellery like Pearl, Crystal and gemstones Not only do pearl and crystal make for special bridal jewellery they also blend in with pretty much everything you wear without loosing their own unique presence. Remember every single detail of your wedding is special and it's up to you to make the most of this special occasion.

The biggest advantage of pearl and crystal jewellery over traditional jewellery is that, pearl and crystal are far more cost effective when compared to gold or platinum. Although pearl and crystal are cheaper than gold and platinum, but they are in no way inferior in looks to either. In fact pearl necklaces have been admired by women the world over. No matter what part of the world one goes to pearl necklaces are popular with women the world over, and in Asian cultures like China pearl necklaces are a part of most wedding ceremonies. Another advantage that pearl and crystal have over gold and platinum is that pearl and crystal jewellery blends in effortlessly with any clothing, but at the same time pearl and crystal jewellery are distinctive and demand attention.

Diamond Rings

Posted by Wealth Group | 8:18 PM | 0 comments »

Diamond rings are used in a variety of ways. You can find many stores which will sell you the diamond ring that you can most afford. These rings that you can find are designed for both men and women of all ages. The colors of the diamonds which are used are sometimes based on popular demand. Regardless of these colored diamonds, the styles which can be seen in diamond rings have the look of simple elegance that is a trademark of diamond designs.

You will find that the diamond colors which are used for rings are white diamonds, pink Argyle diamonds, blue diamonds and yellow diamonds to give you a few examples. The rare red and pink diamonds look really fabulous in modern classic diamond ring style. The current traditional use for diamond rings is that of engagement rings.

You will see that diamond rings are used for wedding rings, men's signature rings, although the diamonds which are found on these rings are of the small variety and fancy diamond ring designs. The shapes of these diamonds are designed and chosen so that they enhance the wearer's finger. By choosing a ring shape which complements your finger you will find that diamond rings make a statement about the way that you feel about yourself.

Depending on the ring which is chosen your state of mind will also be revealed. For instance the main idea of diamond rings which are used as an engagement ring is that you are well loved and your fiancé has felt that you are worth the purchase of a diamond. Since the saying diamonds last forever is true you can expect that this ring that you have chosen represents the level of commitment in a relationship.

For other people who like the idea of wearing diamond rings these rings are the perfect complements to any outfit. The choice of diamond that you choose will in some cases limit what types of clothes that you wear. For instance you can wear a yellow diamond with colors that will not make the diamond ring look garish.

Besides buying natural diamond rings there is another type of diamond that you can buy. These diamonds are synthetic diamonds. These diamonds have been made so that they closely mimic the brilliance of these faux diamonds. The prices of these diamond rings are not as expensive as your ordinary diamond ring.

Now unless you have some experience with diamonds there is no way that an ordinary person will know if you are wearing a real diamond or a man made diamond rings. The best thing that you can do is to enjoy the pleasure of wearing one of the timeless beauties.

Jewelry-Buying Tips for Clueless Men

Posted by Wealth Group | 12:18 PM | 0 comments »

"Boys have their cars, their game consoles and their plasma TVs. And what about girls then? Jewelry, jewelry and more jewelry.

Marilyn Monroe once sang that "diamonds are a girl's best friend". The truth is, girls like pearls, gold wedding rings, antique ruby earrings and anything shiny and pretty too. Jewelry, you men ought to know, has the power to enchant, enthrall and amuse women. They are the best birthday, Valentine's, Christmas and anniversary gift. Couple it with sincere apologies and a beautiful necklace becomes the perfect "peace offering" too.

So just how do you choose the perfect jewelry? What are the things you should look for when buying one for your girl? Here are some tips you can follow:

• When choosing the jewelry you want to purchase, consider the personality of the girl you are buying the jewelry for. While it is true that girls like jewelry in general, getting a piece that really suits our tastes and personality makes the gift more special. For an easier and safer choice, consider giving her something with her birthstone.

• Take time when purchasing your jewelry. Be sure you have thoroughly inspected the jewelry for any cracks, scratches and other damages. After all, the lucky woman who's going to get your gift deserves nothing less than perfection, right?

• There are many scammers out there trying to pass their cubic zirconiums as diamonds or their $2-drugstore jewelry as antique earrings, so be sure that you only buy your jewelry from trusted stores. Remember that if a deal seems too good to be true, then it probably is.

• If you're going all out and decided to buy your girl a diamond, know that the things you have to carefully look at are color, cut and clarity. A good diamond (which is mostly colorless but can also come in pink, yellow and other colors) is perfectly cut and absolutely clear.

• Different stones and gems signify different things. Pearls exude elegance, diamonds perfection and ageless beauty. Ask your jeweler suggestions for the appropriate gift to ensure that you are putting across the right message.

• If you're surprising your girl with an engagement or wedding ring, be sure you know her ring size before you buy the jewelry first. There really is nothing as anti-climactic as getting a ring that is either too small or too big.

• After deciding the design you want, have the jewelry assessed by an independent party before you pay for it. It's and added hassle, yes, but remember that it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Whether you are looking for the most beautiful wedding ring for your future bride or antique earrings for you mom, remember to keep all these tips.

Is it absolutely clear now?! Can you see it?! How could possibly determine whether the diamond you are buying is worth for the cost and truly genuine?!

Below are some qualities of diamond which may be helpful for you.

In buying something there are things which you should consider. Whatever those things are of course the first thing you will check is the quality of a product.

How clean a diamond is reflects with its clarity. Whether if it has no blemishes or any insertions whenever it will be observe by the eye or by a magnifier.

To select a good quality when buying a diamond you should be familiar of some terms.

The blemishes which I have mentioned earlier are flaws on the surface of a diamond. If there's any missing piece that is what we call 'CHIP' and any scrape is what we can consider a 'SCRATCH.'

Any crack found is considered as a 'FRACTURE'. Sometimes during polishing stage there are fine lines being left which is called 'POLISHING LINES.' While the 'NATURAL' is the unpolished part.

In polishing a diamond you may encounter an 'EXTRA FACETS' which shouldn't be present. These are excess polished surfaces which messes up the symmetry of a diamond.

'BEARDING' on the other hand are tiny fractures that can be found on the edge of a diamond.

'INCLUSIONS/INSERTIONS' are some imperfection which may be found inside it.

If you happen to find black spots inside the gem it is 'CARBON', while a white spot i s called 'CRYSTAL'. An internal cracking is called 'FEATHER.' Tiny spots called 'PINPOINT' happened to be smaller than a crystal and a group of it is identified to as 'CLOUD' that gives large inclusion.

The instrument used to estimate a diamond is 'LOUPE.' Such instrument must be 10X magnification. The housing surrounding the lens must be black to avoid distorting the color.

Buying a Diamond - A Simple Guide

Posted by Wealth Group | 12:18 PM | 0 comments »

Even before you've started budgeting for your wedding, chances are your husband to be has probably already spent a lot of money on your ring.

No two diamonds are alike and the majority of brides all want diamonds. But even though you've heard the phrase "diamonds are a girl's best friend" that doesn't necessarily mean all brides are in love with their diamonds.

Hopefully, you will be shopping for a diamond only once, so its important that you do it right and know what to look for.

One of the biggest misconceptions people have about diamonds is that a diamond is a diamond. People tend to look at the design and settings and overall look of the ring instead of considering what they are really spending the money on - which is the stone itself. The most important thing you will want to remember about buying a diamond ring is that the stone is what is most important, not the setting.

In determining the value of a diamond there is what we call the four "C's".

Cut: the diamond's shape. Some popular shapes are round, square, oval, pear, heart and marquise.

Color: the less color in a diamond, the more valuable.

Clarity: the less inclusions or birthmarks within the diamond the more valuable.

Carat: the weight or size of the diamond.

A diamond is not just a financial investment; it is also an emotional investment and one of the big ones that couples make in their lives. So if you're going to buy a stone, you will want it to be one of the prettiest ones in the room.

Once you've picked out your stone, you might want to consider taking it to a certified gemologist for an appraisal. It's much easier to appraise the stone before it is put into a setting than after. When a stone is in a setting, the color grading becomes iffy because the metal will affect the appearance and color of the diamond. You also cannot always see all of the stone because the edges can be covered with metal.

Sometimes appraisals can vary and differ from one appraiser to another. An appraisal is subjective because color and clarity grading are not perfect sciences. Often, what you will get is the opinion of the appraiser, so it may not hurt to have more than one opinion. Even in the labs when the initial grading is done, the final grading is usually the average opinion between 2 or three gemologists.

In the end, just make sure that after you have had it appraised, and if you don't like the results that you can take it back for a full refund.

What if you just want to know if your diamond is real or not? A sure way to tell is by holding up a newspaper to it. If you can read the newspaper, you don't have a real diamond. Gemologists will use what is called a diamond reader. They hold this small tool over your diamond and if it beeps, it's real.

In the early 1400's diamonds were used to represent enduring love because of their hardness. Today, giving a diamond before marriage is a tradition that has only been around for the last 100 years, but will always remain a symbol of enduring love.

Evelyn Whitaker writes articles for German Toasting Glasses which specializes in custom engraved wedding gifts from Germany.

For better or worse (or really worse), she's been there to pick you up off the ground, shake the dirt off your clothes and give you a hug to make it all better.

No, it's not your fiancé, it's your Mom! She's the person who helped make you everything you are today, so before you add another important woman in your life, take some time to thank her with unique Mother's day gifts.

But how can you even begin to think of unique Mother's day gifts for your almighty mother? Well, it won't be easy, especially with your style (hello, plaid shorts and pink polo shirt do not go together!) However, you do have someone who can help you with that.

Talk to you fiancé (and her mother, if you can stand her) to get some ideas for unique Mother's day gifts. They are both female, well, you know your fiancé is a female, you're not so sure about your future mother-in-law, and can give you ideas that would impress them if they were your Mother. Ideally, some of their ideas for unique Mother's day gifts will resonate with you and you'll think of some ideas.

Also, think about what you've give her in the past. Remember that toaster? And that pair of bunny slippers? Yeah, don't get her stuff like that. She hated it, and who can blame her? The toaster burned her bread and the slippers were so ugly that she let the dog eat them.

Instead, you're looking for unique Mother's day gifts. What does she like to do? Does she enjoy the water? Give her gift certificates for scuba diving lessons.

Does she enjoy the outdoors? Treat her to a picnic in the country along with horseback riding. They have helmets, in case you fall off.

Or does she like to read? If so, give her the top 20 books on the New York Times best seller list. Those unique Mother's day gifts will keep her busy for months.

The most important word here is unique. Unique means thinking outside the ordinary, outside what the popular gift is. Save the new necklace and patriotic-patterned shirt for Christmas. Oh wait, never mind. Do not give her that, ever!

So break out your thinking cap and really spend some time thinking about what unique Mother's day gifts you can give to your Mom this year. She's been there for you through thick and thin, intelligence and stupidity and the good and bad times. Take the time to show her that you really do care once in awhile. She's worth it.

And hey, it'll win you some brownie points for when it comes time to ask for cash for your wedding!

Look no further than our website for great unique Mother's day gifts. You can also find all of those wedding essentials for your upcoming nuptials like a personalized unity candle and wedding ring pillows. Your Mother (and your fiancé) will thank you!

The Wedding Gown

The Wedding Gown

Contrary to what you may have heard or been told, not all brides have to wear a white wedding dress. It's stylish these days for brides to wear white or off-white, but the fact is a white wedding gown does not symbolize virginity, happiness or anything else really.

White wedding dresses became popular after Queen Victoria of England wore one back in the 1840s. At the time most women wore brown or black dresses, color was insignificant and they were not real concerned about buying a dress that would be worn only once. But after Queen Victoria created such a sensation, white wedding dresses became a new status symbol.

I hope that little tidbit of information helps disspell any myth about white wedding dresses.A wedding gown doesn't have to be long, flowing or even white and it doesn't have to be costly.

Look through wedding magazines or go online and just look at the various styles and fabrics. There are hundreds if not thousands of different dresses to look at. Don't be intimidated by the number of choices or the costs just find what appeals to you then try to find a bargain.

The average cost for a wedding dress is around $850 up to $1250 when shoes, veil, and undergarments are added. That's just the average so don't pay attention to it. What you actually spend on your gown depends on your personal style, taste, fabric and most importantly your ability and desire to comparison shop. Once you have chosen a style of dress, then you can compare the price at several different places, even the same place after a few months if you have the time. The point is don't buy the first dress you see unless you know it's an absolute steal or the one you can't live without.

A wedding gown purchase is an emotional one and also if your not careful your judgement can be skewed by the old "keeping up with the Jones'" mentality. Check your motive to be sure why your puchasing a particular dress. Basically I'm encouraging you to be patient in this area because it is so emotional. Plan everything down to the smallest detail, stay within your budget as best you can and trust your instincts when shopping for your wedding, especially your wedding gown.

Don't let Money Become an Issue

Posted by Wealth Group | 12:18 PM | 0 comments »

Don't Let Money Become an Issue

The bottom line when planning a wedding is the money. Weddings are expensive, with the budget for the average wedding at approximately $20,000 depending on which survey you look at. Wedding gowns can run five figures, and you can pay $150-$200 per-guest in some big-budget areas. Weddings are expensive and yes more than a few couples have been tempted to elope and use that cash to make a down payment on a nice house. It is just as tempting to "keep up with the Jones's" and to go all out with the ceremony, reception and honeymoon. So the key is be realistic, stay with what you value most and be able to live with yourself afterwards.

Everyone bride and groom knows their wedding dream comes with a price tag. Some choose smaller guest lists to lower the cost, and some pick a destination wedding with a few intimate friends. Others slice and dice their wedding too much and live to regret it. Then there are the fortunate among us where money is no problem. Either way good planning can save you money and headaches.

No matter how much or how little you have to spend there is really no getting around the issue of money. There is also certain things that must to be in the ceremony and will be an expense, such as the rehearsal dinner, officiant, the wedding gown, special music, the reception, you get the gist I'm sure so let's look at the rules of each families responsibilities according to tradition.

Things have changed a little in the last few decades. It used to be the brides family payed for nearly everything. Now it is acceptable for the expenses to be more evenly divided and some if not most weddings are customized to fit the needs and desires of the bride and groom.

Basically the rules are changing dramatically and as you might guess so are the costs.

Tthe following is a traditional list of who is responsible for what. Keep in mind these are not etched in stone so feel free follow it or just use it as a guideline.

What the Bride pays for:

Groom's wedding ring

Groom's gift

Bridal attendants' gifts

Accommodations for the traveling bridal party members

What the Groom pays for:

Brides engagement ring

Brides wedding ring

Brides wedding gift

His own wedding day wardrobe

Gifts for the male attendant

Brides bouquet

Corsages for mothers

Marriage license

Officiant fee

Honeymoon

What the Brides Family pays for:

Wedding coordinator

Ceremony cost

Entire cost of reception (catering, cake, entertainment, beverages, etc)

Brides attire

Wedding gift

Wedding announcements and invitations (including postage)

Bouquets for bridesmaids

Photography and /or videography

Favors

What the Groom's famly pays for:

Rehearsal expenses

Rehearsal dinner

This is the traditional structure of how each party pays for their part of the wedding.

Just keep in mind who pays for what is very flexible and very well might depend on who has the money. Remember to be polite, grateful and smile a lot, because the wedding is just the beginning of a life together.

Wedding Day Schedule

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:18 AM | 0 comments »

Wedding Day Schedule

I'll bet of all the things on your mind a wedding day schedule is not on  the top of your list, but it should be! And I'll show you why.

The wedding day schedule is the second most important  document  right behind your invitation that your wedding party and vendors will receive.

To the one planning an event, what to do and when to do it, is simple  and probably even memorized by that person, but to the players it is    sometimes like trying to read an unknown foreign language. So,    everything that is to be done, and  the names of the ones doing it will be   included in the wedding day schedule right down to when the vendors arrive  and who cleans up afterward.

Remember, whether you hire a wedding planner or not, the wedding  day schedule is a necessary document that will need to printed and sent to  all the wedding party including the parents of the bride and groom. It is also  comprehensive in that no detail be left to memory, that is a recipe for disaster  especially in a big wedding. If it's not on the schedule it won't happen at least  not in the way you want it to. Things like who will escort the mothers to their  seats, when the music starts, what is to be played, etc...

Don't let this boggle your mind. Just start thinking of the wedding in  segments. This will make it much easier to begin the schedule and keep in  mind it will be completed over a period of weeks or months. As you begin  thinking about your wedding, start with the parts you already have some  information.

Begin by taking a sheet of paper label it "Wedding Day Schedule". In  the upper right corner put the date as a header and each time you make an  entry or print it out (if you're doing this on your home computer) you can keep  up with the last time you made an entry or update. In the left hand margin  write  "Rehearsal" and leave some space name and address. Under that   write "Time" and "Phone number". Then at the top of the page in the center  write "Wedding Day Schedule".

Now in the left margin create a column for time and to the right of each  time slot will be a place to explain the activity for that specific time. Now   make a list of events, in the order they will occur, and write them in the right  column. The time slot will be filled in once you have contracted with each  vendor.

Now you have a place to write down the events in chronological   order. You should be well own your way to at least having a written record of  your entire wedding from Rehearsal to Reception and I hope that is a comforting place to be.     ? ? ?

Music for Your Wedding Ceremony

Posted by Wealth Group | 8:18 PM | 0 comments »

Music for Your Wedding Ceremonyand Reception

Music is without a doubt an essential part of any  wedding ceremony.  Just what effect or mood you want is up to your personal taste.

Some people like the traditional sound of the classics while others are  more into contemporary, pop  and cultural music. We will consider both of  these ideas and look at the different mood each may capture.

Keep the big picture of what the ceremony and reception look like in  your mind and then choose what type of atmosphere you would like to put  forth.  Also,  an important reminder is deciding  who or what will play the   music   The music is there to enhance the exchange of vows not the other  way around.  I have been to weddings where the vows seemed an after   thought. So be careful to choose the appropriate type music and amount of  music. Also bear in mind live music is an option not a must. Music on tape or  CD will give you the luxury getting exactly what you want and it is less   expensive than a band/orchestra etc...

The location you choose will probably set the tone in the first place. If  you want a solemn church setting then the music you pick will preferably fit  that venue. On the other hand an informal setting such as  an outdoor affair  will most likely dictate what music will be played, although this is not etched  in stone.

The 4 main parts of the ceremony:  the prelude, processional,   interlude and  recessional.

The prelude will set the stage and also let people know that shortly  the ceremony will begin. Well chosen prelude music will also entertain your  guests and should not be distracting. The prelude should begin

approximately 30 minutes before the time on your invitations.

The processional is special in that the bride enters to it and therefore  should be different and somewhat louder so as to be distinguished from the  other music. This part of the music can be as traditional or contemporary as  you prefer. There are no rules here.  A lot of people feel that Wagner's  "Bridal Chorus" is very appropriate here as it is the most traditional wedding  march, but keep in mind that many brides choose non-traditional and very  contemporary songs for this purpose so try to think outside the box or don't   think that is the only choice you have.

The interlude is just a fancy word for the music you have    chosen for special moments you want to emphasize and songs that have  special meaning to you and you fiance`. Again don't fear non-traditional   music here.  My wife had a good friend sing "The Lord's Prayer" while   playing a guitar at our wedding.  Just remember that any music that is played ,  you will have to stand there and listen, too.

Then after the ceremony you still have to walk out so usually the   recessional is the same song as the processional. But again you needn't   adhere to tradition here, so you can have any song you want.

The reception is a horse of a different color so to speak, as far as the  music goes. There are more and more couples having long receptions   following the wedding ceremony.  For many a live band is the only thing that  will do, if your budget will stand it. If not, consider hiring a DJ.  They aren't  cheap and they are all not the same so verify what their specialty is and   make sure they fit your budget and taste. You don't want to make a   mistake here so be careful and take your time choosing a talented DJ, one  that not only fits your taste but has a little taste themselves.

I hope this article has helped your wedding plans. Just remember, this  is your wedding. Be open to suggestions but also don't be afraid to put your  personal touch on it with your musical choices.

Is a Consultant Necessary?

Posted by Wealth Group | 12:18 PM | 0 comments »

Is a Consultant Necessary?

Before you say "I don't need a wedding consultant, thank you very   much", let me ask you a quick question or two.

When you don't feel good you seek a doctor's advice, right?  Or when  you have a legal dilemma, you probably will go see a lawyer,  and if you   want financial advice you seek out a financial planner, correct?

Well,  here's a news flash,  those professionals are all basically   consultants,  wouldn't you agree?  So lets just say to keep from having a   wedding dilemma you merely consider hiring a professional wedding   consultant,  because weddings can be very stressful especially when you  are trying to please a lot of people all at once and you want to stay within   your budget.

Like aforementioned, weddings can be stressful and totally time   consuming.  To determine if you should seek the services of a professional  wedding consultant, sit down with all parties concerned and see if you have  the means to hire competent vendors.  Also consider what the wedding will  cost within a reasonable budget.  Will you be able to arrange a schedule so  your vendors, wedding party, and parents know when and where  to do their  assigned parts?

Yes,  wedding consultants have a fee, but sometimes they can   actually save you some of your hard earned money.  A young lady who   works with my wife recently got married and she of course handled all of her  wedding arrangements. She told my wife about all the money her and her  fiance paid for the DJ.  They agreed to pay $400 for this guy to play   music at their reception and he had over booked so he called her the week  of the wedding and cancelled. So there she was having to book another DJ  at the  last minute and not surprisingly had to pay $600 more plus all the   stress. Do you think a DJ would have done that to a professional wedding  consultant?  Probably not.  So with that one example you can see how easily  it is to have unplanned expenditures.

After talking over the need for a professional wedding consultant, you  will need to discuss whether or not  you can afford one. Because this is a  formal occasion, not to mention the most important day of your life, you have  only shot to get it right.

So, do you want to spend all of your free time putting this whole thing  together yourself with little or no opportunities to enjoy the experience or   maybe hire someone to take on the responsibility for the details freeing you  up to relish the event.

With that said, let's look at some tips on choosing a competent   professional wedding consultant.  I don't throw out the term "professional"  loosely because there are incompetent  wedding consultants out there. For  instance, the woman who after planning her own wedding, where everything  went perfectly, thinks she is now a pro and gets business cards and a sign  and basically becomes an accident looking for place to happen.

To find out if the consultant is competent, ask where they received   their training. Then you can check out the agency or organization simply by  asking for the phone number. If the state of residence requires a license that  can be verified by contacting the appropriate state agency.

For further assistance find vendors in your area and ask them who  they have worked with in the past. Their opinions are just that their opinions, but they can give you a good start.

This article was written to give you information on why you might want  to consider hiring a professional wedding consultant,  not to promote them. Just be aware there are always people ready to take advantage of you. Be  diligent do your homework and remember, if it sounds to good to be true it  probably is.

Helpful Hints for Choosing a Ring

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:18 AM | 0 comments »

Helpful Hints for Choosing a Ring

Traditionally, the engagement ring is a gift from the groom-to-be to his  fiance` when she accepts his marriage proposal. Now days, more and more   women prefer to help choose the ring instead of being surprised with   something not exactly to their liking, considering the fact she will wear it for a  long time.  The purchase of the ring could be a joint decision, especially if   there is a house or other major purchase in the near future.

No matter how involved you are in the selection of the ring, you will  not be responsible for paying for it. Also, in the unfortunate event the   wedding is called off, you will be asked to return the ring plus any other   jewelry you have been given.

If price is a major concern, your fiance` can go to the jeweler of his  choice, preselect several rings in his price range and then the two of you can  go together at a later date to pick out the one you prefer. Then you both will  be in on the selection and the price.

The diamond has been the engagement ring stone of choice for many  years now, but any stone is appropriate. You will find that diamonds are very  expensive, especially ones of high quality. Other stones are just as   appealing and far less costly, such as sapphires, opals and pearls. Many  women like to wear their birthstones. The following chart shows these. ?

                    January    Garnet

                        February   Amethyst

                        March     Aquamarine

                        April     Diamond

                        May   Emerald

                        June    Pearl

                        July     Ruby

                        August   Sardonyx

                        September   Sapphire

                        October   Opal

                        November   Topaz

                        December   Turquoise

Knowing something about what your shopping for is never a bad   idea.Diamonds and precious stones are the same, so jewelers suggest that  you do a little research before before you shop.

A good place to start is the four C's, clarity, cut, color, and carat. Clarity   for instance, is the absence of any serious flaws revealed under    magnification. Cut refers to the shape of the stone, some are more valuable  than others. Some of the more popular shapes are marquise, oval and   emerald. Color refers to the hue of the stone. For instance, diamonds   have several distinguishable tints. And of course, carat refers to the weight of  gem.  Knowing these four things will make you a much better more informed  shopper. A good rule of thumb is to buy the best stone you can afford from a  dealer you trust.

The Engagement

Posted by Wealth Group | 12:18 PM | 0 comments »

The Engagement

One of the things in accomplishing a task is past experience. The

problems with planning a wedding is just that, lack of experience.  The best

key is to stay within yourself and concentrate on reflecting your lifestyle. Not

necessarily your past but your future as you and your fiance` desire to live

out your lives together.  Now is the time to start thinking about traditions you

want to pass on to your children. I don't need to remind you that marriage is

a life changing event. Two people starting a new partnership and not only

the couple but two families as well. ?

So let's discuss the engagement. First of all the engagement party is

not usually a formal, structured event. In most cases it is a casual gathering

at the home of the bride with both sets of parents, grandparents, siblings, and

other close relatives you would like to invite. its also a good idea to have the

engagement party a short time after the couple becomes engaged,

otherwise it loses some significance. A good rule of thumb to keep in mind is

12 to 14 months for the average length of an engagement.  This is done to

show consideration to the people that mean the most to you and your

fiance` and to allow ample time  for the preparations without being rushed. ? ?

Choosing an Officiant

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:18 AM | 0 comments »

Choosing an Officiant

In the past choosing a minister to perform the wedding vows was apparent to everyone based on the commonality of religions. Now it seems more acceptible for people to marry outside their particluar belief system, which sometimes leads to a little confusion on who will officiate the ceremony. Some want a spiritually meaningful ceremony but not too sentimental. Others prefer something a bit more personal than a civil service

.

In America, the state and the church are the two authorities dictating the content of a wedding ceremony. Anyone getting married in the United States must comply with the laws of the particular state in which they are being wed. Check with local town hall or city clerk to find out what the specific laws are in your state. If they choose to marry in a church there are also certain guidelines that apply as well which they can find out from their clergy.

Just because a person calls themselves a Protestant, Catholic, Buddhist or Muslim does not mean that person is a devout believer. A lot are, but the point is some have drifted away from the religion of their youth and are caught up in the religious preferences of family members and in the effort to please others, lose track of what they really want in their wedding.

It's alright if you include religious messages in your ceremony or you don't, all I'm suggesting here is have a valid reason either way.

There are simply more options these days as to who you can choose as your officiant.

Some pastors, priests and rabbi's require pre-marital counselling and if you cannot or will not fulfill this you will find yourself looking for someone else to officiate your ceremony. One option is to use the services of a interfaith minister with whom you can customize the ceremony to your own beliefs. Some are Christian interfaith ministers, while others honor all religious and

spiritual traditions, while yet others will perform outside of the context of a church. They will be harder to locate due to the fact they are not affiliated with a congregation or church building. Bridal consultants or Wedding coordinators in your area can assist you in finding a local interfaith minister.

When you do locate a person willing to work with you, don't be afraid to ask questions, such as are they flexible and creative, are they open to suggestions about the vows, what role do they usually take concerning the rehersal and fees - flat rate or extra for traveling. Remember this is YOUR wedding, a time for you to enjoy and relish the rest of you life. The officiant is there to enhance the ceremony so you should feel comfortable around him or her

Bride's Day

Posted by Wealth Group | 8:18 PM | 0 comments »

Bride's Day

The bride to be often hears the term "it's your day" and often begins to  think it is a carte blanche to do whatever her little heart desires without much  consideration for others.  Don't fall for this temptation.

A wedding is a merging of two "families" rather than just two people  so the bride,  who might begin to think only her opinion counts or she has  the last word on every issue, comes to realize real quick the art of    compromise.  With the coming together of these two families there is always  some friction and differing opinions.

So how does the bride juggle her high expectations and the wants  and needs of others including her mother, soon to be mother-in-law, fiance,  not to mention her attendants, caterers, and various service providers?  How  does she keep everyone smiling?

She is tactful, listening to everyone's suggestions and complaints. This   makes everyone feel they are a vital part of the planning and their opinions  matter.

She is polite, thanking everyone for their effort and time spent even if it is   seemingly inconsequential.

She compromises at every opportunity,  because she takes into    consideration others feelings and suggestions as just as important as her      own.

She knows where to turn when all else fails, etiquette books, the ultimate   authority to resolve disagreements.

She keeps a smile on her face through the good, bad and the ugly.

These suggestions, if followed, have a strange result.  As the bride  focuses on others needs, she finds she is happier and more content, too.

The Six Best Places to Hold an Irish Wedding

As any newly-wed will tell you, a wedding is a wonderful, magical celebration, whether at a chapel in Las Vegas or on a cliff-top in Maui. There is something truly special, however, about an Irish Celtic wedding. It could be the beautiful, soft Celtic light falling across the face of the bride, or the sound of a warm, crackling fire in a castle hall, but it is definitely unique.

Adare Manor, once the hunting retreat of an English gentleman, is stunning and awe inspiring, and certainly tops our list. The Manor's staff, unobtrusive yet obliging, are of the highest quality. A candlelit dinner in the great hall is an amazing experience on it's own. As a site for a wedding, it is without equal.

Powerscourt Castle, however, runs a close second to Adare Manor. Just outside Dublin in the Wicklow Hills, Powerscourt is warm and welcoming. The sprawling gardens include one of the best golf courses in Ireland.

The Radisson SAS St Helens caters to people that are looking for the advantages of a wedding in the city without any of the commotion. Only fifteen minutes from Dublin's centre, on spacious and luscious grounds, it's a hidden treasure. Inside the walls the city seems like it is hundreds of miles away. The hotel offers a variety of packages, from a standard rate to the Diamond Package for couples that would like to push the boat out that little bit further.

For people who like the hustle and bustle of a city, University Church is a popular venue for the ceremony. Set on Stephens Green, in Dublin's very heart, it leaves you with your pick of surrounding hotels for the reception. Within walking distance there are the Fitzwilliam Hotel, the Merrion Hotel, and the August Shelbourne Hotel. From the magnificence of the newly refurbished Shelbourne to the trendy and chic Merrion, any and all of these venues are ready and willing to provide a wedding celebration of only the highest quality.

In the center of County Clare, Dromoland Castle is next. Proprietors of this location characterize it as one where modern age comforts are combined with old-world sophistication. This isn't a hollow claim. Dromoland is also fewer than ten miles from Shannon airport, a transatlantic travel stop over point, making it really accessible for friends and family who are traveling from America.

For people who are looking for a bit of the countryside, try Hotel Dunloe Castle. Completely surrounded by over sixty acres of parkland with an amazing view of the celebrated Gap of Dunloe, a wedding ceremony here permits the wedding party and guests to travel to see some of the most beautiful landscape in Europe.

The business of Irish weddings is flourishing and there is a wealth of resources, particularly online, to help in your planning. For information on things from chauffeur services to wedding party clothing, you'll find extensive lists available. If it is the magic of Celtic culture and tradition that is intriguing about having an Irish wedding, there are jewelers that can provide Irish wedding bands to fit just about any taste.

So, making plans for a wedding in Ireland could not be much simpler, except for, of course, the matter of finding your soul mate. But how hard is that ?

Ready to make the commitment in getting married to the love of your life? It's quite normal if you feel some jitters or nervousness. Proposing is the first step in telling your fiance that you are ready to make a commitment to her beyond simply words. Marriage is a huge milestone for anyone to take and knowing that you have chosen the right life partner is crucial to one's well-being and life success.

You may already have visions of how a perfect proposal will look like. It could be the special place that the both of you first met or it could be dinner at a upscale restaurant. Some have even proposed while skydiving. Whatever your proposal preparation plans are, you definitely want to ensure everything is perfect.

Before any proper proposal can be made, you will need to buy an engagement ring. While the tradition of getting down on one knee and proposing with a diamond engagement ring goes back a long time, it is actually a fairly recent tradition. Betrothal rings were a custom inherited from the Romans. During the 13th century, the practice grew in popularity to become a common custom of Christian marriage ceremonies. In fact, the first known diamond engagement ring was commissioned by the Archduke Maximilian of Austria in 1477 for Mary of Burgundy. Before the late 19th century and the discovery of mines in South Africa, the prices of diamonds were considerably more expensive than today and therefore only affordable to the wealthy. In the late 1800s, the newfound diamond mines in South Africa contributed to the drop in diamond prices. With these precious diamond gemstones within affordable levels for many Americans, it drove demand and people began to give diamond engagement rings more and more. Even so, the use of diamonds in engagement rings and wedding rings didn't become really popular until the 1930s, when De Beers went on a full-scale marketing campaign to target the American public. From then onwards, history was made and the now popular coined phrase "A Diamond is Forever" became emblazoned on the minds of the multitude.

The use of diamond engagement rings and diamond wedding rings are regarded by many to be a symbol of financial commitment from the groom. While the purchase is budget driven on the groom's end, many women consider an engagement ring an outward symbol of your desire to marry your partner. Cutting corners and going cheap on an engagement ring definitely sends the wrong message to your fiance.

There are lots of choices in engagement rings to choose from. Deciding on what kind of engagement rings to buy from the many options available can be confusing. To assist you in making a more informed decision, one should consider the four factors contributing to the overall cost of the diamond engagement ring. They are:

1. Ring Design

2. Any Deep Meaning in the Ring Design

3. Precious Metal Used

4. Carat Size of Diamond

When it comes to ring designs, you may choose contemporary ring designs which are the fashionable ring designs of the day or the time-tested ring designs of the past. Modern ring designs offer the latest trend-seeker an outlet to express their individualism. Ring designs of the past derived from the past like Celtic rings ensure that the ring will transcend many generations and will be passed down without losing any of its luster and attractiveness. Celtic engagement rings have grown increasingly popular due to the deep meanings associated with its ring designs, many of which were extracted from ancient manuscripts. Because each ring is individually handcrafted oftentimes by skilled Irish jewelers to specifications rather than mass-produced, the cost of Celtic rings will be slightly higher. Although the mass-market contemporary ring may be cheaper today, it may not the best best investment in the long run because the ring will be valued on it's precious metal and gemstone only rather than taking the whole look of the ring and the materials used into determination of the cost. A ring with lots of meaning associated with it as with Celtic jewelry tends to continue fetching higher prices going forward.

The third factor to consider in an engagement ring is the precious metal used. Yellow gold is the overall favorite but white gold is gaining ground today because it resembles platinum, a harder metal that's more expensive. White gold engagement rings has advantages also in that it is very easy to match with any fashion ensemble compared to yellow gold engagement jewelry.

Fourth, the carat size of the diamond. This contributes to a huge portion of the overall engagement ring cost. Just to give you a feel of what market prices are like for diamond engagement rings, studies conducted by the Diamond Information Center (DIC) revealed that the typical diamond engagement ring had an average ticket price of $3,200 in 2006. With prices like these, it is no wonder that engagement rings are treated as a symbol of financial commitment. Even though most couples marry out of love, it is important to note that the male's financial capability is still a consideration factor for females in marriages despite gender equality. The carat size of the diamond is one of the benchmarks used in society of high stature. A large diamond sends the message that you will be able to take care of her long after the wedding.

I've sold thousands of engagement rings during my 20 year career in the jewelry business and with that I've gained intimate knowledge of what works when creating a memorable proposal. Most men think that a women's only concern is the ring – how big it is, what shape, precious metal type, etc. While every woman wants their engagement ring to be something they'll always cherish, they do want a proposal story to tell their grandchildren. After you propose, your girlfriend's family and friends will ask two questions – "Can I see the ring?" & "How did he propose?" Now that's pressure but it doesn't need to be if you follow some rules of engagement, no pun intended.

Surprise Her

Men have a hard time picking an engagement ring for their future fiancé and rightfully so. After all, how many times in your life have you purchased an engagement ring? With that being said, 50% of guys thinking about popping the question will bring their girlfriends with them to help pick the engagement ring. This can be helpful in finding out what she really is hoping for but sometimes it really hurts the romanticism of the event. The women that are most excited always seem to be the ones that were completely surprised when receiving the ring. There's no substitute for getting down on one knee in front of your unsuspecting bride and presenting a ring that you've selected on your own. It shows that you're excited enough about getting married to do it without help and that you want it to be a special time for her.

It's not always easy for you to decide which ring is the one she'll fall in love with but you can get the job done a lot easier than you think. First thing you should know is that there's tons of information at your fingertips and you don't even know it. Look to her lifestyle choices, clothing, and her shopping habits to determine what she would like for a ring. Ring styles are created with the wearer in mind just like clothing; some people are bold and outgoing and prefer clothing & jewelry that matches. This type of person would hope for a ring that's a unique style and has a bold fresh look. You can get ideas for ring styles at .An active person would want a ring that won't be obtrusive or get caught on things. Traditional women tend to choose classic designs like round solitaire engagement rings.

If you still can't decide what she would like then ask her friends or family for their help. Women spend time discussing jewelry choices with one another, especially when people in their circle of influence become engaged. Another good approach is to look for opportune times to discuss the ring without tipping her off. When you see an advertisement in a magazine, the internet, or on television; comment on the rings and then ask her for what she thinks about them. Women's magazines are a wonderful tool to do this because there many jewelry advertisements in them.

Style Choices:

Classic/Traditional

Round Solitaire

Tiffany Style

3 Stone Settings

Bold/Contemporary

Tension Set

Thicker Settings with Multiple Diamonds

Designer Diamond Shapes

You'll also need her ring size before going to the jewelry store to begin shopping. There are a couple of things you can do to get her size without tipping her off. First, find a ring that she wears on her ring finger and bring it with you to the jewelry store. The jeweler can measure the size of the ring to determine the right fit for her engagement ring. If you're concerned that she'll become upset because her ring is missing, then you can trace the inside of the ring with a pen and take the inside measurement to the jeweler. In some cases you won't get the perfect fit on the first try, so be sure to ask the jeweler if the ring you choose can be sized in case it doesn't fit properly.

Your engagement will be magical and memorable if you take the time to prepare for the engagement ring purchase. Take it from someone who has worked with thousands of engaged couples, do it on your own for the most romantic proposal possible.

How To Buy Celtic Jewelry

Posted by Wealth Group | 4:18 AM | 0 comments »

Celtic jewelry has a long and proud tradition. The origins of Celtic jewelry go back for centuries. Many of the best pieces of jewelry found today are made in Ireland, Scotland, Cornwall, and Wales where many of the Celts settled. As more and more people around the world discover the culture and tradition behind Celtic jewelry that are remarkable works of art, the availability of Celtic jewelry has grown to meet the growing worldwide demand.

With the popularity of these jewelry pieces came opportunists seeking to cash in on the demand for Celtic jewelry. You'll find many sellers of Celtic rings and jewelry on the marketplace today with prices ranging widely. It is important to keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Ensure that the Celtic jewelry you purchase is from an authentic Celtic jewelry maker. While the seller may not be Irish, Scottish, or British, they can still stock authentic, quality Celtic jewelry because many Celtic jewelry designers and makers export these popular jewelry pieces around the world to places like the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Keep in mind that brick and mortar jewelry stores are limited by the amount of display space and usually stock limited designs of Celtic jewelry. One of the best places to find the best selection of Celtic jewelry is on the Internet. The Internet has become a global marketplace where stores from around the world can offer a variety of items up for sale to buyers seeking these items 24 hours a day seven days a week.

If you are buying Celtic jewelry from popular auction sites like ebay, do be careful of fakes and low quality jewelry. Always buy from a reputable seller or you could lose a tidy sum of money on jewelry that isn't exactly as promised. These sellers are usually labeled as Powersellers and have been doing business on eBay for a long time with lots of positive feedback.

When buying specific Celtic jewelry that's on the higher end like Celtic engagement rings or Celtic wedding rings, it is still best to buy them from a Celtic jeweler. You will find many of them are online. By buying from a Celtic jeweler, you ensure yourself of the largest selection available since many do not necessarily stock everything seen on the site but rather custom-make many of the Celtic rings to fit the buyer. In addition to the larger selection, you also get to choose specific designs and determine how your Celtic ring will eventually look like at the end. You can pick the precious metal used to make the ring, the ring size, carat size, whether it's a mens or ladies ring, etc. If you were buying a piece found at a jewelry store in a mall, you will only be able to choose what is on hand. Many Celtic rings are also difficult to resize if they are too big because of the intricate designs on the rings so custom made rings are still the way to go.

Diamond

Diamond is a crystalline form of carbon. Its rarity makes it extremely valuable and precious. The combination of the 4Cs, namely Cut, Clarity, Carat and Colour, determines the value of a particular diamond.

Cut

While nature determines a diamond's clarity, carat weight and colour, the hand of a master craftsman is necessary to release its fire, sparkle and beauty. When a diamond is cut to good proportions, light will reflect from one mirror-

like facet to another and disperse through the top of the stone, resulting in a display of brilliance and fire.

Diamonds that are cut too deep or too shallow lose light that spills through the side or bottom. As a result, poorly cut stones will be less brilliant and beautiful and certainly less valuable. A well cut or faceted diamond, regardless of

its shape, scintillates with fire and light, offering the greatest brilliance.

Ideal Cut Diamond

Every angle, proportion, and facet in a cut diamond contributes to its light reflection, so variations in any or all of them have a definite effect on the beauty of the diamond. An Ideal Cut round brilliant diamond is one which is cut to

an exact mathematical proportions and angles, to create a diamond of irresistible beauty.

Super Ideal Cut Diamond

Masterly craftsmen continuously strive to obtain the most ideal cut to release the maximum brilliance and fire from a diamond. The Super Ideal Cut, with the following three qualities surpasses the Ideal Cut in creating a diamond of

unequalled magnificence.

Super Ideal Cut Diamond

Perfect Cut Proportion

Super ideal cut proportion is similar to the ideal cut proportion, except in the extra 1% on the table length and the depth.

Perfect Symmetry

Perfect Symmetry refers to the identical and exact size and angle placement of each facet. Only with this quality, can the diamond release an even radiance. Without perfect symmetry, the facets cannot reflect the same level of

brightness, which reduces the diamond's brilliance.

Perfect Polish

Polish refers to the finishing of a diamond. The surface of a perfectly polished diamond is flat and smooth, allowing light to reflect evenly through every facet.

Super Ideal Cut Diamond

When a diamond meets all of the above three criteria, 8 perfect arrows and 8 perfect hearts can be observed with a special scope. These are significant proofs of a super ideal cut diamond.

Clarity

The greater a diamond's clarity, the more brilliant, valuable and rare it is. Virtually all diamonds contain identifying characteristics, yet many are invisible to the naked eye. Under the scrutiny of a jeweller's 10X magnifier, natural

phenomena called inclusions may be seen. These are nature's birthmarks.

The number, colour, type, size and position of the birthmarks affect a diamond's value. Major inclusions can interfere with the path of light that travels through a diamond, diminishing its brilliance and sparkle and therefore its value.

Carat

Carat is the measurement of a diamond's weight.

One carat is equal to 0.2 gram or 100 points. Because large diamonds are found relatively infrequently in nature, diamonds' worth go up almost exponentially with their weight.

Colour

Diamonds can be classified into "colourless diamonds" and "fancy coloured diamonds". Colourless diamonds are graded by colour, starting at D and continuing through the alphabet. Truly colourless stones, graded D, are treasured

for their rarity and value, and are highest in quality. Fancy coloured diamonds in well defined colours that include red, pink, blue, green and canary yellow are particularly rare and very highly priced.

Shape

Diamonds are cut in many fancy shapes. As the shape and distribution of inclusions vary with each raw stone, diamonds are cut into different shapes in order to avoid flaws and to minimize the wastage. People often choose

different shapes according to their own preferences. The following are the most popular shapes in the market:

Round Brilliant

The round brilliant cut diamond is by far the most popular shape, and accounts for about 3 out of 4 diamonds purchased today. It is designed to produce the greatest brilliance and reflection of light.

Princess

Princess cut is the second most popular shape on the market. Its table appears as a square-like rectangular shape. The pavilion of princess shape is cut according to that of the round brilliant, which increases the brilliance of the

diamond but also increases the use of materials.

Oval

The Oval shape is an extension of round brilliant, it looks larger than its actual size because of the elongated shape. Rings set with oval diamonds are suitable for ladies with small hands or shorter fingers.

Heart

Heart shape is a symbol of romance. It bears some similarity to the pear shape. To avoid significant inclusions, the cutter often prefers cutting the heart shape to the pear shape. This shape is seen frequently in pendants, but is suitable

for most any purpose.

Emerald

The Emerald cut is not a brilliant cut, but is called a step cut. Step cuts are comprised of larger facets, which act like mirrors. Because of the angle, size and shape of the facets, the emerald cut shows less brilliance and fire than the

brilliant cut diamonds. However, the emerald cut stone reveals a classic and aristocratic elegance and beauty not seen in other cuts. Because of the open and large nature of the facets, it is highly recommended that you consider

staying at higher colour and clarity grades.

Marquise

An elongated shape with 2 pointed ends just like the eye of a horse. This special shape is especially suitable for people with unique style.

Pear

Pear shape combines the best of oval and marquise but the appearance is much softer. Pear shaped diamond ring can accentuate long and slender fingers. It is also beautiful for setting pendants and earrings.
